900 gearing??

i Bought a 24 top tooth gear. cant decided to run 37 or 38 bottom. and difference performance wise between the two? i ride hard and fast on trails.. occasional drag races with friends and a few radar runs. i like to ride WOT on the rivers around here too.. Any input to help me decide would be great.

Wow, I'm no gearing genius, but that seams really low to me. You'll do 0-65 in the length of your garage (if you can hook-up) but that'll be it. I don 't see you winning alot of drag races unless they are only 40 feet long

maybe i'm wrong

thats high really about 1.58 to 1 with the 38 with the 37 1.54 to 1 in these 2 combos you will not see alot of change in proformence

i run 18 41 or 2.27 to 1
my stock on my switchback was 24 37 i toped out on rader at 103 mph with a 3/4 inch 144 track but wasnt the best in the snow if you want bottem end you need to go lower on your gearing but remember lower gearing means lower topend and you may need to clutch also to keep the rpm under control

I have a 900 Fusion,, i believe i have not been shifting out fully. I have put in 25 top gear this fall and left the 37 bottom. I am expecting better bottom pull and top end... Top cause when i hit 95 it would struggle every mph faster,,,, Gears were too tall,, 24 will be great,, im all trail too..... 0 - 90 is most my riding anyway.

thanks rmk2112 beats my math LOL you got a taller chart for our fusion buddies edit never mind i found it

one thing i dont think is right though is the MPH chart i pull 86 now at about 7600-7700 rpm with 18-46 gearing and after finding the other chart i also see the mph is at a 1-1 clutch ratio

just a guess but from his past postes he has a 05 fusion even though he didn't say in this one so he should be ok on speed

Heck man then go 120 MPH !!!

I think there was a good post about gear/clutch set up for fusion at HTG and something from INDYDAN ... if memory serves me right.

so what gears are everyone using??? im not getting the response i want

Well, first of all most of us in the 900 section are mountain riders running low gearing for climbing, which isn't going to help you.

Lets try this from another approach....
What was your previous gearing?

What change are you looking to make from that previous gearing? (more top speed? more low speed acceleration?)

24t,39t stock chain ??????????????????

Question: Fusion 900,, 25t,37t is stock gear....
24t, 37t fits w/ stock chain,, 24t,38t fits w/ stock chain,,,,,,,
Does 24t,39t fit with stock chain ??????????

Reson i ask,, im on tight budget to keep my funds ready for season to start,,, i would like to get the 38t off ebay for 20 bucks like all the rest of the gears.. Moost are great condition ffrom people swaping for that perfect combo... 38t's are never on there,,, plenty of 39's.

I only saw one comment on a blog that someone said 24t,39t stock chain... But only one comment.. Anyone know ????
