It was the mag side. 05 900. replaced the boots last year. I eas ridding at 1/2 throttle. Never broke a belt. Would reeds do this?

Indy dan has a point, old or poor fuel. Elevation could play a part. These fuel systems work great for normal riding elevations, but the extreme highs and lows they are not as effective. higher rpm with low throttle position can cause a leaner condition. A slow burn is typical to exhaust side while real lean will burn down fast and more towards the center through the dome.

The same thing happened ahain instead of the piston being burned at 5 o'clock it was burned at 7 o'clock. Both times on the exhaust side. Can I check the fuel pressure by runnig power to the fuel pump prime connection, and what should the pressure be? Can these injectors be bench tested and if so what are the specs? Can the ECM be accessed for any indication of what was going on right before this happened? It's not the fuel I had allready ran 3/4 of my tank through. Have ridden about 300 miles with no problems. EGT's haven't shown anything out of the ordinary, but I wasn't watching them at the time it burned down. I am a flat lander with an 05 900 fusion. Can anybody help????

Dang, sorry to hear man.

The fuel rail should show 58 PSI for a 2005. You can have the injectors flow tested and cleaned by an injector servicing shop (I'm not sure of any specific names tho). You can have the ECU checked if it was throwing a check engine code by a dealer, but I don't think it holds any old operating stats. Check to make sure the throttle body boots are not cracked, that is a very common cause of lean-conditions in general. Leaking base-gaskets from warped cases can also cause an air leak. I'm not too sure beyond that.

PTO Side. I took it in to the dealer while it was dismantled so they could hook up the Digital Wrench. Only code shown was a temp code, I was told. The mech said he called Polaris directly. They told him that an exhaust side melt down is a detonation problem. He was also told that a bad exhaust sensor wouldn't tell the ECM if it was lean or rich by exhaust temps if it had been over torqued and there by destroyed. I asked why there weren't any codes for a bad exhaust sensor and was told that the ECM can't tell if it's broke or not. I was told to bring it back when it's running and then they can test the sensor. I'll post the outcome in a couple of weeks. Also does this sound feasiable?
