900 Belt Change Interval

Hi all,

just wanted to know how long I can ride with the upgraded Polaris belt, I beleive it is number 011, I rode 800 miles on it last year, mostly trail riding, getting it ready for the upcoming season, should I replace the belt?

thanks all.

Short answer;

change it

Long answer:

There's so many variables to that question that there almost is no right or wrong answer. In my own practice, I plan to change the belt at the beginning of every season as a precaution whether it is likely still good or not. Other than that, I would say to look the thing over very well (off the machine) and look for any spots where it may be pulling out the cord, cracking, rough, or be in any other less than desirable condition. I got 1100 miles out of my belt last year and had to change it out on the very last ride as it began to pull the cord loose, my riding was a mix of just about everything over the season.

I would say to change it to be on the safe side and if this one is infact still in good condition, throw it under the hood as your spare.:beer;

Oh yes, I run the 1115 belt on my 900, not the 1111... I don't have any experience with the 1111 other than that's what my sled had on it when I bought it and I took it off for a fresh 1115.

Thanks everyone,

yes, it is the 1115, I kind of figured as a precaution to change, but was not 100% sure, I will change that belt when I change the chaincase fluid, thanks for the response...

Anyone every flip the belt to other direction ? So the other side of the belt presses on the hot motor side shieth on the primary clutch ?

My ..080 still looks good, can just see the strand in the belt only on the hot side shieth,, so i flipped it after inspection today. I assume this is ok, just decided to try it,, makes sense...

Also,

That belt is DIFFERNT than the 3211080 belt than the sled came with ....

The clutch will need to be removed and re shimmed to run the 115 belt (or the 111 belt)...

I've used Indy Specialties to ge the whole clutch serviced to better than new AND get the side clearance set for the 115 belt.

I did run the 111 belt for a while... blew it in 200 miles... same sled with the 115 belt... no issues... Clutch was shimmed properly for both.

IMO...the 115 belt is the only one to run on the 900's....

Violent belt blowing greatly increases your chances of crankshaft failure.

i dint know the clutch needed to be re shimmed, what happens if you dont? cause ive been running it like that havnt touched the clutch at all and i got 600 miles on my belt for the first time ever. usualy it would last 300-400 miles. later found out i had one motor mount holding!!

but i was also running 080 belt before i found out about the 1115 belt. ive blown the belt full throttle on i think 3 occasions still running good lol!
