860 Carls performance...

I am wondering what to expect for performance from an 860 CFI-4 Carls engine / sled set up for pump gas with single SLP pipe and high flow intake. Should it basically perform the same as an 800 BB Escape which has been ported and twin piped? Both sleds clutched appropriately.

And has anyone run a PCV on a Carls 860 engine and had any gains?

The 860 should decimate the 800 BB. Chris @ Carls compared the 860's performance set up as you describe to their 910 running twins and 50/50 pump/race gas mix.

The 860 will run right with my 910 except on the very top end... but my 910 runs twins and 30% av gas.

When I built the first 860 my comparison sled was an 03 Vertical Escape with Carl's porting and SLP single pipe. There was unfortunately no comparison... I had a hard time judging whether the 860 was climbing 20 or 25 sled lengths higher in bottomless fluff. Seriously, not even in the same league.

The 860 has a reprogrammed computer, PCV shouldn't make any difference.

I suppose a drag race on a lake in spring conditions, with the 800 BB twin-piper running a 144x2 and the Carls 860 running a 163x2.5 Camo Extreme, wouldn't be a good way to judge relative performance. *L* Find some powder and a hill to point it at... different story...

Yeah, exactly... put it on a big hill on a day you can't climb out and then see how they compare.
