860 carles cycle ???

My buddy has one i would guess 155ish definitly better then a stocker i would like to ride a twin piped 840 i bet it would be 175+hp. I would go turbo instead of a BB alot of $$$$ for little gain

You'll not find any documented HP numbers on them from Carl's. Carl's uses Brundage Resevoir as their dyno. :)

Conjecture is what you will get. In a flat out drag race up a hill in deep snow my 910 is just a titch faster than the 860.

No hp number from carls, my good friend has one and we guess 175-185 ish, pulls harder than stock by a long shot

OH, and as far as turbo vs 860, I would NOT do a turbo on a D8 cf4 before a 860, remember that the 860 fixes all the issues of the dragon motor by going to the carls separate custom cylinders and there own pistons as well as the fueling thus getting rid of the 800 problem areas.
The last thing you want to do is put a turbo on a motor that can't even handle the stresses of stock low compression duty.
Note that the carls jugs are abotu 1500 EACH if you break one btw

Jack does not like to throw those numbers around, he is preaty shy about it. But the proof is in the pudden!! I have one and I know it spanks the heck out of the m1000 with the slp kit on it. lol
Those motors are a solid 175 true HP. That is what we found on our own...

LOL almost, Inside info. I know people that know people, that talk to people. There are many things that change that #, race fuel, compretion, just depends on how you have it set up. I still think those #'s are what we make of them. I like to call them fun #'s, LOL ..

what are Polaris #'s on the stock 800 motor? If I remember right it was said to be 154.

When Cat cry's 200 HP with the 1000 and the slp set up, and an 860 kicks it's butt in all wheather, what do you say. I even know, that an 860 will not even come close to 200 HP so now where are we? That's why I like to use the term fun #'s.

any which way to me it does not matter. It is just the same on the pro and it's #'s being low, and we are seeing what they are doing next to the other brands that are claiming X # of HP on there stocker.

Just my thoughts and limited experiance with this topic on the 860 and other sleds #'s.

I rode a 860 for a few pulls a few years ago back to back with my 600 turbo shift at about 10 pounds. Very similar overall power and similar pull on the hill. Keyboard highmarking has it at 175hp range I would guess. Difference was, the 860 had instant torque and pull...would be an incredible all around sled...gets up on the snow in a second and has legs. With the lag of my turbo, I could tell a big difference on the throttle response and low end torque of the 860. Great motor either way you slice it...pulled in any RPM range and instantly. I'd take one over my 600 turbo in a heartbeat. Plus it's Struthers...you get the power coupled with longevity that only comes from a tuner like him. And my guess is it runs perfect the first day...his stuff always has for me and my buddies. The Ronco of sled motors: Set it and forget it!

Your so right, heck call it 120 HP. The 860 still out performs many that claim big numbers... I have had nothing but fun fun fun with my big bores for the last 5 yrs. I would not go to anyone but Carl's for a big bore set up. Gas and Go...

Our little drag races/hillclimbes showed the same, D8 turbo at 5-6 pounds ran equal to the 860, 860 much more low end turbo on top. My mod sled at legit 200hp walked the 860,but i'm still guessing 175-185 legit numbers for it at least. And ZERO issues. Just a great motor. Now i'd do 860 + turbo lol

My riding buddy is waiting for carls to have the 900 ready for his pro, loved his 860.

Oh just to be clear this 860 had high comp head and slp RACE twins on it, 50% race gas mix...

the 860 really come to life with twins, and some race fuel.

I am very ready for jack to have the 900 done, and ready for the public..

x2 forgot about the cyl issue 840/860 first my buddies sled was setup by carls iam not putting the 840 down but my twin piped 700 turning a 174 flatout spanks my buds 840 in a drag and on a hill. and its setup by carls and they put in a fresh topend before we got it. I dont think my 7 makes over 200hp slp claimed 174hp with the twins impressive for a 700. The nice thing about the 840 is to the bar all day long i cant wait to get a 174 put on that 840 its going to be a fun sled.

I have never been a 840 fan. I never thought they had what they should of. Seen some that went down, IMO the walls of the cylinders where a little thin. They may have fixed that, I think I remember something on the 840 that they where coming up with new and better clyinders. I have not been around one for about 3 yrs. After riding them I was not impressed with the 840. compared to my 860, and the cost is preaty much the same..

Does any one know what the hp numbers are for the 860 cc big bore?

Ok, back to it. Sorry, LOL

If you are in the market for a big bore, throw down the doe and have Carl's biuld you an 860, or (900 when it gets done). You can not ask for more, from a dealer like Carl's. Does not matter what the HP # come out to be. I promise you, that you will have a smile for hours while riding one. And it will hang with any sled around. Carl's Stands behind all there products, I have delt with them for yrs with one mod or another and they are straight shooters. Money well spent,

yup, the one i was around had a number of issues. cylinder walls were decidedly too thin. but i was only around the one, others might have a different experience. have heard nothing but good things about the 860. too bad the 900 has taken so long to get right but you know they won't release it until it is running perfect. have heard the ones they have are damn impressive. so the question becomes do i get a new sled or go with the 900 next year...? (although the new house is more than likely to make that question irrelevant :( )

pv

I understand that. I would like to put the 900 in the new pro this yr. but it might be late in the season before that happens. So I have thought of waiting tell next yr. for that toy.

They run awesome! I just bought an 08 860 with twins and head. The first ride was success and the race gas smells good too:face-icon-small-ton. Can't wait to ride it in deep snow!
