You definitely need to tighten that up.
We have been running the C belt for a long time. Last year we ran and offered the R belt. Alignment is paramount when running any carbon cord type belts.
I had Gates build a custom R belt that I offer for sale. It’s a bit wider and longer than the stock belt and retains the 26* belt angle.
What's the difference between the 45R4553, the 47r4572, and lastly the 47r4572-26 you have posted?? Any of these wider than stock in case I dont have to shim my clutch?

Thanks!!

The 47 belts are .190” longer and a little wider than the 45 belt.
The 47R4572 belt has a 28* angle. The 47R4572-26 has a 26* angle, replicating the AXYS 800 and 850 clutch sheeves.

New gates redline belt, 0.025" belt clearance, 66.5gram EPI weights had me pull to 8300 and settle to ~8150 RPM today in 29-32F air, at 10,000 feet, very heavy snow. Running 93 with vp110 leaded and 88 ethanol free.

Not enough snow to safely pin it across the meadows but i could hold it wide open for 5 seconds maybe. RPM settles pretty quick. Did NOT chalk clutches. Mostly rode slow and dinked around in the trees. Did 12 miles, about 2 hours of dinking around with picture breaks. Broke in the belt mostly according to gates lil video. Seemed to stretch a bit, had to redo deflection after a couple WOT pulls towards the end of the day due to really jerky starting. wasn't there at the beginning of the day.

Thank you everyone for your recommendations and help.

Anyone know someone that tunes these goddamn clutches in southern utah?

Got some weird popping in an out of power around 4800-5200 rpm, honestly feels and sounds more like engine more than anything.

1 foot or so of heavy-ish powder today, up the road, and would pull 8400 and sound like it was working hard and settle to 8200 rpm. Then towards the end of the day it would stay at 8300 and haul ass. sharpied the primary, belt is about half an inch from the top. it is pulling up to the top at some point but it isn't worn off like the rest of the sharpie is. didnt sharpie the secondary. the secondary does have the transmission bearing thing and a venom helix. pulls significantly harder I THINK when it maintains the 8300+

so, gates redline 45r4553, 9900+ feet elevation, 30F air temps, 66.5 gram weights, stock primary spring, about 0.025" belt to sheave clearance, venom 64-44-.40 OR venom 42075-220, both numbers engraved on the helix.

is there a different primary spring i should try, is the helix even close?

also is the 5000 rpm jerking/sputtering some common issue or should i go thru my spark plugs and caps and wires. it runs good wide open, but in the trees the jerkiness is gonna get me stuck.

That sounds very close to the rpm you will have your exhaust valves open. Likely could be that transition you are hearing. (around 5600 rpm)

That pic is only valid if you are running on a long flat surface where you have enough room to reach full speed and full clutch shift. Under most mountain riding conditions you never see over 40-50mph, so you’ll never see full shift out.
Where did you get that helix? Wouldn’t be my first choice for high altitude on a mtn sled.

I dunno it came on it. What is a good helix for 10k? And secondary spring I guess.
I've got weights and primary springs to play with this coming weekend.

Went out today in kinda heavy powder conditions. 16 inch of.... fairly fresh base, 10-24" of new heavy-ish powder.

Did some climbs and its pulling 83-8400 now. Don't know why.
Running the Dalton 100-305 lb primary spring, 66.5 g epi non adjustable weights. 10000 ft. 25-33 degree air temps.

Reset tighter belt deflection and it's excellently smooth off bottom at 4100 rpm.

Still has the same venom helix in it. Seems to have decent backs hitting, was on and off full throttle on the climbs and seems to do decent? I think it is trying to maybe upshift too fast. It's a monster on the trail, but I didn't buy it to be a trail sled. What's a good helix if my primary seems to be doing what I want it to?

Khaos is definitely acting better in the deeper snow and climbing its a little wild. Excellent side hill manners. Snow is still a little low and expect everything to improve, another 2 feet and conditions will be very safe for collisions w/ rocks and stuff.
