800r crank question

I am about to start my top end rebuild on my 2007 800r summit. The sled has 1000 miles on it and i have the pistons and rings but my question is about the crank. Well i have the motor apart should i be pulling the crank out of the cases and sending it out to be checked or just do the topend and ride?

why the rebuild at 1k?

How does your top end look? Mine has 1200 on in and I was going to run it this season and if it doesn't blow up do the upper and lower at that time. Did you measure the runout on your crank before you tore it down?

In spec or close; call her good and slap back together. Out of spec, get her welded/balanced. Simple as that.

Have FUN!

tough call

Boy thats a tough call as if you figure a rebuilt crank is going to run 800 or so. If its in tolerance I would be tempted to load it up with isoflex and put it back together.. If its out.. a rebuilt crank seems to run about 800.. Not a pretty sight, plus you would want to have the cases checked too..

I got a new crank from seadoo clinic last year with the fat bearing on pto side for I think 600.00. If crank is bad that is the route I would go.

Send the crank to BJ at SHR and have him true it and check over. Send in your cases as well and have him measure them and machine them as needed and your bottom will be good for a long time. The 07 cases were machined too small from the factory and would put excessive squeeze on the bearings and cause them to fail prematurely. Some were worse than others but most were off. I hve had mine done and my crank was .010 out on the PTO end and both PTO bearings were showing this as well, very worn. Had the cases machined as well and were out of spec. The few hundred bucks I spent was well worth it cause I have totally confidence in the bottom end now.

What pistons are you going with? Be sure to use a good dual ring cast piston and you might as well replace the valves to the updated 09 valves.

PM me if you have any other questions.

did a run out on the crank and was just under .002. What do you guys think? Should i be getting the cases machined or run it like it is? There is a 1000miles on the bottom end
