800 VES recoil spring~ again

Somewhere between too dumb to quit and flat earth
I need a recoil spring on my door step by the 28th or 29th. Anyone know a good place to order it?

I have kept count and i have pulled my engine out of my IQ 12 times now and this makes 13. Getting a little old (but i can do it in about 20-30 min :D)

Also i need to order some good recoil rope. I went cheep last time i did it ( approximately 5 days ago) and now the spring snapped. Just in case, i also want to order all the plastic inside because i can't have this problem again.

Any help would be great. Like i said i need the stuff by the 28th or 29th and I’m not sure how long it will take with the holiday rush and business being closed but I have a lot of plans and I already canceled 2 trips and no one around has the parts in stock.

I've bought recoil springs from shadetree and have had no problems with them. They also carry pull ropes. I don't have their number at work but I think you can do a search on the web to find them.

you have the IQR sled??

I used 6 mm climbing rope. You can get it at most sporting goods shops that sell rock climbing supplies ( I am not sure if there are a lot of those shops in Manitoba??)

If you are losing ropes, they must be rubbing somewhere. That was happening to me. You may have to change the location of your recoil rope mounting. You may also have to install a tube that the rope is inside so that it isn't rubbing against anything.

Welcome to the wonderful world of mod sleds. It will make a mechanic out of you.

Does anyone know where to order the spring and all the plastic parts inside? I need to order them like right now lol.

Ahh yes i own a 800 IQR soon to have a 151 on it with pretty much custom everything. I broke a rope earlier because it had to steep of an angle coming out of the engine and now i broke the spring after starting it a million times after running for a few seconds and then checking plugs. The worst part was pulling the carbs apart on the mountain and not being able to get them back on.

I can't wait to get it out and actually ride it and not set at the bottom of a hill and tune all day. MY friend named my sled rehab because its always in the chop having surgery done to it and never wants to work but when it does its the sickest sled we’ve been around short of a turbo'd d8.

Next year I am going to buy a 06 IQR Roller and a D8 engine and the next year its getting a turbo. :face-icon-small-ton

To anyone who has looked at Winter's sleds, the $3000 or so he charges to piece them together is well worth it. I can not even begin to tell you all the stupid litle things that i had to make custom. It took me 12 hours one day to put the rear suspension back together and get it on the sled with 8" big wheels and i had to drill out some holes and put in larger bearings and make my own drop down brackets...let alone getting that skid on by my self

I have a lot of time into my project and there is nothing to radical about it. After doing something like this a guy gets a new found respect for all the custom mod sleds out there (even if they are green, or yella)
