800 Pro RMK vs 800 base RMK-which one?

I will be snowchecking a 2012 800 RMK and want to be clear on the cooling differences and suspension differences.

Does the base RMK have a cooler in front of the track in the tunnel? It is my understanding the Pro RMK does not have this cooler.

Also, has anyone put the adjustable Walker Evans shocks in a Pro RMK? (those shocks on the RMK Assault)

thanks for your replies

The RMK will stay cooler easyer, in hard snow or on the trail. With the pro you will need your ice scratchers down if you don't have a good amount of soft snow at least 6 to 8 inches. If your not an aggresive rider on or off the trails, the pro will be hard to cool. We run with the temp gauge on most of the time, so not to let it get to warm in the hard snow. I must say The Pro will stay cool in the hard snow, you just have to ride it according to the snow.
As far as the suspension I will have to let someone else feild that one, don't want to give any incorrect info.

As stated in another thread, the base model has a cooler, Ryde FX shocks, extra bogie wheels(to protect hyfax), IQ handlebars (with controls on bars instead of dash), solid driveshaft instead of hollow, different brake rotor, and the PRO has a carbon fiber rear bumper/handle, and the PRO has cutouts in the snow flap. All the differences are mostly for weight reduction. The book shows the PRO being 9 lbs lighter than the base RMK. Hope this helps.

I have the standard this year and buddy's had the pro's I liked mine better!! Getting another standard just not crazy about the white!!!

Is the front cooler on the STD RMK under the tunnel or is it under the front bumper like the old 900 rmk or the rush?

Come to think about it, it all comes down to whether or not you can deal with the the naked bar deal or not (Pro-Taper bar, sick bar ends, and controls on the dash - remove your hands from the bar to change settings and all). Not for me, so I avoid considering anything sporting such a layout even though I know the layout works very well.

thanks for your feedback/information.

Has anyone installed the WE shocks with Piggyback reservoir on the Pro RMK 800?

I would like them in the front and in the track.

Same dilema for me Unfortunatly I have to trade my 09 D800 to get rid of it.I am looking at $8200 diff for a retro pro ES or 7K diff OTD for a easy start RMK.Pros and cons .I know the RMK weighs 9lbs more but has the front cooler and real rear bumper.I also like the switch gear up on the bars.I don't think you can factor in resale down the road as the 09-10's Dragon and RMK used prices seem about the same.Whats everyones take on this one,yes money is tighter this year .Don't forget this is canadian rip off pricing up here and if I keep my D800 it needs to have money spent on it for fuel filter, powervalve service, poss pistons. This way I just get rid of it and keep all my tunnel acc

So, is the standard RMK's cooling like the 163 08 Dragons or is there an extra cooler? Looked at the 2011 parts fiche and can't see it in the pictures.

I can't stand the old clunky style of brake/headlight/warmer cluster combo and the kill switch on top of the throttle. Would it be more expensive to put those on the dash or to install a cooler on a pro?

STD's have an extra cooler, tunnel front. Both have top of throttle kill switch. FWIW, I wouldn't bet against a new brake/warmer/rev layout switchgear in 2013 with poo, what they have dates back to 2000. Who knows if it would show on a RMK year 1.

Cooler

Must look something like this(17) like on the Dragons?

That scares me because I have that cooler on my dragon and sometimes have problems keeping the thing cool under **** conditions and being on the trail longer than I'd like.

If a fastrax cooler can be added with no major hassles, I guess it's not a big deal. Anyone know the price and install?
