Late breaking story on BCTV tonight, said they had an unconfirmed report of an avalanche involving 12 snowmobilers, 3 dug themselves out and 8 are still "missing" Anyone got anything solid on this story?

This is getting out of hand, to many deaths for such a stupid reason. If you want to ride at all, ride on the trails or in meadows until the snow sets up and the avy danger goes DOWN!!!

Please be careful, everybody.

that ain't good. I thought there wasn't enough snow to sled on let alone have an avy. hope all turns out well.

I live in Elkford, 45 minutes north. and the snowpack the other day seemed pretty stable. partly because we have no snow. I havent heard a thing yet though. hope everything is okay.

12 guys ....and ...wow not sure who to blame or what to say ......bad deal big time ....musta been one of those half the mountain and 3-4 klicks long deals

rip in peace boys and hope that your loved ones will make it thru

8 missing well you know how that ends ..damn it !

jeezuz this is not a good year at all....hopefully its a false rumer but even at that. one person is bad enough but 8 oh boy

prayers sent to the families and hopefully they find some still alive

Sooner or later, these statistics are gonna be the undoing of our sport.

This is the "silver bullet" for the anti-snowmobilers to use against us.

Oh yea...........and RIP:rose:

Exactly. It's the same thing that happened to 3 wheel ATC's. Tick...tock..

Sad day - we need to figure out how to stop this.

Setup blockades to ALL trails leading to the mountains. Groomed trails are fine, but its the steep sh!t that kills. just my .02 cents!

hope there is no truth to this also.. if there is ....

This is getting a completely out of hand..

If it is true.. prayers are with them and family.. :(

Sad deal for sure, my thoughts and prayers are with the families:face-icon-small-sad:rose:.

Folks, get your avy training and learn how to read a snowpack, use a beacon and probe. If the danger is high, stick to the meadows and trees. I'm so glad I took my course, it really opened my eyes and made me think about the terrain we all love to ride. Worth every penny IMO.

Ride smart and safe people.

I think it is time they include an avalanche course with every mountain sled purchased.

The dealerships should offer this and tack on the costs to the sled.

OR:

make it MANDATORY, like the boating license, and have it required to operate a sled in AVY terrain.
