7900 rpm or 81500 rpm not 800R's are built alike

It appears my 09XP runs better at 7900 while my 08XP runs best at 8150. With all thing o the sled being equal. Anyone else have an 800R that runs best at 7900 ?

OT

Quite possibly your tach could be out. I have heard as much as 5%...Is it a stock Pipe on both?

My 08 pulls harder between 7900-8000. But I am piped and that seems to be the optimal rpms for my set up. Before the pipe and other mods I would say only 100 rpm more to hit the sweet spot.

Mine was doing that but I think it's different now that it has new clutch spring cap bushings. It gained a few hundred rpm after this warranty repair. Previously it had more track speed at 7900 in clicker 2 than 8150 in clicker 3. It is an 08. ?????????????

ditto on the clicker position, always have had more track speed on position 1 or 2 with rpms be of lesser importance,on zx and rev sleds starting to think that about the 09 xp as well.

That probally has more to do with the primary shifting better due to the ramp being not as steep. If you get a setup that shifts hard and runs at target RPM and loads the motor it works even better. Most the reason everyone feels the run better at lower RPM is becuause the primary is shifting better. Most of the setup just rev and don't bite when at target 8150, the motor makes more HP at 8150, the key is getting the motor loaded and primary shifting hard at that RPM.

Exactly! couldn't have said it better

My 08 runs better at around 8200. I am riding a demo 09 right now and that thing feels like a dog at 7900.

BTW, that was a legitimate question and being an azzhat is uncalled for! We are all guilty for spouting off chit, heck you just did.

okay ,if your target rpm is 8200 ish but your sled makes power from 7850 to 8300 ,within a few ponies ,the sweet spot is a lot wider than 150 revs. power valves open at what rpm ? somewhere around 7400 . intresting stuff

sweet spot is probally 8100 - 8300 but you will get the most track speed at 8150 - 8200 if your clutching is setup correctly. The 800r is quite a "peaky" two cylinder. Reminds me alot of my triple trying to clutch. Not as bad, but not as easy as other twins.
