727 vs. 685

I have a spare set of cylinders and I'm torn between the 660 and 685 as well. Have the 685 s really proven that there as reliable as the 660s?

Yes they have. The reason there are two is because the 660 from Carl's is a bolt on option, no bottom end work needed. The 685 has a bit more go, but you have to split the cases to machine them.

Very good point about the bolt on and go aspect of it.

Now let me stir up things a little bit. I currently have an slp pipe n can on my 600, what would I have to do when/if I step up to a 660/685? Would my current pipe be up to snuff to run it for awhile or would I just need to jump to a Dynoport or a Neils?

The Carl's 685 is extremely reliable. I had Carl's take mine apart at about 2,000 miles to check it and rebuild it and it looked great, ....although we rebuilt it anyway since it was apart. The 600 motor is an exceptional platform to build as the crank is bullet proof.

My wife has a new 600 Pro coming in any day now. I keep thinking I need to call Jack and have him 660 it. And not tell her!
