7.3L programmer

looking for a programmer for old reliable. any one have a favorite?

I bought an Edge CTS in Sept '10.
LOVE IT A LOT.

Can fine tune the program...timing, shift points, injector timing...etc, etc, etc...

I do have a Diablo chip to sell now.

anything else done to it?? I just took my stocker and did and intake and straighpiped the stock exhaust and changed it so it will pull as much boost as it can without tripping the SES light and it pulls really well, almost as well as when i had a tuner on it and its almost free to do that.

any of the 6 pos chips are a better idea then anything else IMO.. but the edge ones are pretty nice deals with having gauges built in.. always a good idea.

I gotta say, if you got an auto tranny.. look into it a lot more as crappy tuners eat up the old autos bad.. I would seriously consider some love to your tranny before doing a tuner if you do any amount of towing/hauling. they barely hold up stock and with the added HP, bad news bears.

4 inch exhaust, b pillar mount triple guages, ats turbo housing, had the tranny built, trucks got 225k on it so it has seen its share of dragging trailers out west. have a 65 hp western diesel (10 yrs chip has been in truck) and want to change it. maybe a multi position chip would be the ticket.
older truck but i bought i new, and runs too good to sell and i dont like the list price on new trucks.:face-icon-small-sho
thanks for the advise on crappy programmers. i pay the price to put the top notch stuff in my truck.

I had a DP Tuner and liked that, but it got burned out somehow so i replaced it with the 6 pos, and have Swamps tunes....:boxing: Do some playing around, there is some very good forums for information..powerstrokearmy is new but theres alot of good guys there..

Yep...otherwise you'll be calling me after you've spun the intermediate roller, direct drum, front planetary, overdrive planet and sprag, and the converter lets go.

I ran an Edge Evo2 for years with my 7.3. I ran it on the 80hp setting and towed trailers all over the US. Never broke a thing and the truck ran great!

Edge CTS chip is what I'm running in my truck. The touchscreen is nice, and you can see your EGT temps, and anything else you want. I turn it down to level 2 for towing, & set it at level 5 when I'm just driving around. I'm not sure they make the race chips anymore, but I'm sure you can find you a used one if you look on e bay or something.

Im running a TS performance 6 position chip that seems nice...

whats all done to your truck?

Got this one.

talking to the local diesel shop, this is the one he would recommend for the 7.3L.

stock/High idle/50hp/75hp/100hp/140hp. (I need to put my maturity hat on good on tight on the 140hp setting.:face-icon-small-ton)

Your maturity hat is gonna go flying off soon as you hit the throttle...none the less enjoy!

I'm running the php (power hungry performance) 6 position chip with my own burner so I can change tunes if I want. They offer up to 140hp tunes but only on the early year 7.3's with forged rods. It's highly unlikely you can see 140 with the stock hpop from what I've read.

I've got a sct tuner with a custom 80hp tow tune from DP. It has plenty of getup, and very safe for the truck.
I'd sell it if your interested.

regardless, if its 140hp or 110hp its fun and used in very infrequently.
the 50/75 setting are more applicable for me.

Agreed. I don't even have tunes over 80 hp so that I don't stress my stock clutch too much. 80 is more than enough extra power IMO.
