hey there i noticed this morning that when driving my 1997 powerstroke that my turbo was stalling when boost pressure was low causing a loud wooshing sound. but when i punched it the turbo would spool like normal. does this have anything to do with the below freezing temperatures during the night? also after the truck was warm the problem stopped? any input would be much appreciated!! thanks

It sounds like the exhaust backpressure valve. They close when the engine is cold to help warm the engine. Normal stuff.

yup, and you can actually wire a switch to that valve and use it as an exhaust brake. you just gotta watch the rpms that you flip it on at or i here it can cause some pretty serious engine damage.
