You can see in the pics below how differnt the springs are wound from the 08 on the left to the '12 on the right. I installed a delrin washer from Indy Dan on the spider jam nut deck and no issues so far this year. I also read that some are filing off the sharp endge on the spring end that could be digging into the spider jam nut deck area. Hope ya get 'er figured. EW

You'll see the white delrin sitting in the deck surface where the primary spring would rest

What RPM's are you running? They've been rubbing the spider for years. To high RPm's will bind the spring which can break them.

i run all over the rpms from crusing on the trail to polling a climb at 8250 rpms, did take it to the dealer and they called polaris and polaris says 3 weeks the fix will be out

Put in a team spring and be done with it:baby:

Irony? Mine rubs poo and Team springs both.

Curious to hear what the fix will be. Send your clutch to the local machineshop to enlarge the cup on the spider?

Spring

has nothing to do with how it is wound, I broke two SLP springs (took off factory spring from get go) within 450 miles, and they are tough and wound properly. It is binding somewhere. I am trying a thin metal washer on the clutch side and will see if that helps. Poo was trying to say its from over revving but I hav never hit the limiter and just dont buy that, Just like anything they will have a fix for next year.

Only 2?

I have a box full of broken ones. It is frustrating. The weird thing is I had an 09 clutch on my pro and it still broke them.

don't fight the obvious, ericw just told you how to fix it....he's totally right, i've been fixing my big bores this way for 15 years....thunder products also sells the delrin washers for the primary clutch....it works!!!!!

We broke a couple with the Delrin washers, Oem and Team springs and we also deburred the spider nut and the spring edges. :face-icon-small-con

thats weird...

if thats the case would it be something to due with vibrations coming through the crank?

If anyone else tries a Speedwerx H5 125/340 alloy spring with a Thunderproducts metal glide washer on each side, and has one break, please post it up. I have almost 350 miles on mine. I had minimal wear on my spider nut as well so took the rough edges off it. The H5 alloy springs have a 30K-40K higher tensile strength over chrome-silicone springs (like the other companies are using), and don't seem as "fat" of a spring. Worth a try for some of you constantly breaking springs.

I'm using the SW H5 130/300 spring with Indy Dan's delrin washers on each side and it's working fine so far.

I took a spring that was in my 660 for 1200 miles and the pro broke it in 15. I don't think it is the clutch. Maybe it does have something to do with the vibes.
