600 sdi starting issues

I have an '06 600 SDI Summit.

The first ride out it had issues trying to start it.

It would start......just 3 or 4 pulls after it was warm instead of 1 pull

Is this as simple as old gas? Plugs?

Thanks for your $.02

Never hurts to try a fresh set of plugs, NGK BR9-ECS is what we use. Just make sure there the one's gapped at .032 I believe the box # is 4677 ( NGK also makes this plug with an .018 gap for earlier carb models). These plugs are not to have the gaps changed...good luck:beer;

The 600ho sdi uses an NGK BR8ECS plug. I would try fresh gas first and then if you are still having problems, look into the injectors. Can you hear your electric fuel pump build pressure and then shut off? Maybe you have a weak fuel pump...just a thought.

Any more thoughts?

It was doing better with frsh plugs......fresh gas...battery charged.....ect.

Started acting up agian.....the sled sat on a down hill slope for about 5 min....took me 15 or more pulls to start it....on the flat it was not that bad.

Does this sound like the fuel pump?.....I was going to order one....but hate to replace it if that is the the problem.

THANKS AGAIN

I hate to mention it again but, a good battery is so important on the sdi, I keep mine on a trickle charger all summer or put it in the grandkids 4-wheeler. It still requires a new one every other season.

X2, you would not believe how much the battery plays a role in these sleds. I run a new one every other season also. it can affect starting, how the sled idles almost everything on these. I would try a brand new battery if you are still running the stock 06' one first and see if that helps your problem. Also like dieseldog800 said check your fuel pump.

thanks again

orderedf fule pump.....will do a battery next.......dealer said it may be the stator?????....it runs the fuel pump....

I think I would try the battery first unless you are real sure it's good one, $40.00 and five minutes.

Generally the fuel pump either works or it doesn't.

Make sure you give it a little throttle when pulling it over. The revs like that.

The sdi don't. I hate to harp on(yes dear) but my wifes 06 sdi has never taken more than one pull when warm, or two pulls when cold ever, and I mean ever, unless the battery was weak.

I will pick-up the fuel pump on Tuesday.....I AGREE with you "XXL"....my daughter never has to give it throttle......when it is warmed up....starts on the FIRST pull 95% of the time.

"XXL".....the OEM battery is $40?

No throttle on start up for an SDI....
I pay 50 for a replacement Yuasa but then I live in AK.
I change batteries every season
Ever change the fuel filter?

I paid $42 from Batteries Plus for a Yuasa as a replacement. Local dealer wanted over $60 if I remember right.
