I downloaded the new brochure and it's left me wondering what track will be on the Pro 600. In the overview section it lists the new track, in the specs section it lists it with the 5.1 series. So does it come with the new track or keep the old?

It looks like if you wait to buy the normal production run Pro 600 sled this fall, you'll get the series 5.1 track. If you snowcheck a Pro 600 you get the choice of the series 5.1 or the new series 6 track.

I was looking at the new PRO 600 as well, I think it would be great with the 2.6. My dad has a 14 PRO 600 and it is a very fun lightweight sled to ride, I'll bet it would really rip with the new track in conjunction with the new chassis. Anyone else considering the PRO 600/thoughts?

I like the looks, but was hoping the SKS would come in a 600 so the front cooler would be an option for our heavy wet snow here in the Cascades.

Here's another question: the brochure lists the weight of the 600 as being four lbs heavier than the 800. Is that all accounted for in the engine?

Since the weight of the PRO chassis 800 & 600, were listed the same it is possible the light weight crankshaft and the the new 2.6 track are the difference. The in season Axys 600 comes with the heavier series 5.1 track. Snow check option with the new 2.6 track would bring the weights closer:face-icon-small-coo

X2 the only difference between the motor in the pro is intergrated motor mounts, electric oil pump, the old track is 2lbs heavier. I hope Polaris brings out a 600 HO for 2017 are 2018.

would any of you guys order a new 600 PRO or do you think it would be a total disappointment? In other words what would be more of a disappointment, getting a new PRO 800 and having issues with it or riding a 600 that is silky smooth, reliable as heck, and being a little short on power but you have a smile on your face with no breakdowns? I'm not saying that the 800 will be a piece of junk, just to be clear.

600's are fun.

If you like to challenge yourself, buy a 600. They are a hoot to ride. No, they don't have the torque of the 800, but they work very well out of the box, even better if you decide to big bore them down the road (such as Carl's 660). We have a 13 600 with a Carl's 660 kit, and I ride it every chance I can, as it puts a goofy grin on my face every time. The new 800's are so capable, they're actually a bit boring - just add throttle, wheras the smaller bore requires riding skill.
FWIW, I think the 600 is a bit soft if you ride above 8500', so consider your riding elevation, too.

There's a $1100 price difference between both sleds with the same track, the 800 motor seems to be holding up in the short tracks this year so if it was me I would take the risk and go with the 800 if I was riding at a higher elevation. I ride a 600 and like that sled a lot but I hope a 600 ho is released in the next year are two.

600

I've always like the idea of a 600, not sure why, maybe I just need to be different.
AK, X2, I would love to see a 600 HO 155 3" for next year. I've been prying the Arctic Cat crowd to see if they think the 600 Ctec motor can pull the 3" track that they have in the M6000 Limited model.

rktek has a vid of his 660 kit out climbing a stock 800.

also his marketing propaganda states "piston issues" with 800 ho and keep your pro and get his drop in kit until polaris fixes the issue!

hope its not thin piston skirts still...

I think that's just what you stated. "Marketing Propoganda". I have watched the 2015 axys threads decently close this year knowing it would be my motor next year and I have seen one engine go down, and that was due to something getting sucked through the motor.

The only issue has been some RPM fade after the miles get racked up, and that has been attributed to mostly clutching. New belt and cleaned clutches has fixed it for most.

Not saying this motor will be perfect, but from what I have seen over the last year, I have high hopes.

600 HO?? You could put 600 stickers on a left over 800 and save some money.

maybe so if you had faith in the "old" 800. I'm not that much of a gambler. I've owned 10 Polaris sleds over the years, and in 2011 I started riding Ski Doo's, not one issue with them as they have been good to ME. I'm not that brand loyal by any means. This new chassis really is starting to excite me and am thinking about going back but I'm getting a 600 if I do, I'm not going to be a guinea pig that's for sure. I've ridden the pro 6's and honestly would be fine with me I'm out to have a good time on vacation when I go out west, could care less if someone highmarks me. Not trying to start a war here just being honest.

Well that explains why you went to skidoo:eyebrows:

Just pokin fun, I don't fight over who likes what brand best.

I jumped on a 600 last weekend and there is no way I could go back to that power..

I know what you mean, I've had tons of 800's and like the power when you want it. I respect your opinion.

The difference between a 600 and 800 becomes more noticeable with each 1000 feet in elevation and every 10 degrees in slope.

Without those factors they are pretty close.
