600 pro

Looking at snowchecking a new sled and can't decide between the 800 and the 600 i am only 5"11 and about 180 lbs. Coming off a 800 sba and the kind of riding i do its mostly tree's. that being said had anybody bought the 600 and wished they had went with the 8? what do you guys think is the best fit for me. I like the idea of having a 6 because 1.reliable, 2 challenge, and 3. money. i don't care to be the high mark on the hill i live in the trees!!!!

Here's how I see it: if it's all about the matter of your funds, go with a standard 800 in favor of the PRO 6. Here's why: the '13 800's have had no problems. Polaris has over 5000 miles on them, not a single problem, just gas and go. Plus the RydeFX shocks really aren't all that bad. Plus, that grunt of the 800 in the trees will be much better than the 600.

The 600 is going to feel underpowered to you if you are used to an 800. You probably will get used to it, but there ain't no replacement for displacement.

For years I rode 600 and 700 rmks and didn" t think I needed more power. Until having a pro chassis standard 2011 800, I won't go back to a 600. Snochecked a 2013 pro 800. Had zero problems with the 2011.

i tend to disagree. i think the 6 is ideal for tree riding. even though it is the same weight it is even easier to throw around due to the shorter stroke in the crank. which makes it feel lighter. plus if you decided you need/want more power you can go with a carl's 660 setup (do the entire setup. except maybe the v-force reeds... sorry off topic) that will run with, if not better than any stock 8 out there especially in the trees. you still normally won't be able to put the highmark on the hill with a 660 but that's not your goal anyway. those motors are huge over performers. i've had a 600, 660, 727. 797, 800 and the 660 is still my overall favorite motor. and it was a carbed version in an edge chassis. it flat ripped and surprised many 800s. plus there is no question, overall, they are more reliable. (damn, i've almost talked myself into changing my snow check...)

I had a 2011 800 SBA that I took it out to the Big Horns once. This year I put 350 miles on a 2012 Pro rmk 600 and loved it. For 2013 I ordered a new Pro-RMK and sold the SBA and 600 2012 Pro-RMK. It will be another 600! Did I feel inadequate riding thru the streets of Cooke on a 600? Yep, my ego was hurt until two days into a trip when one of the guys I was riding with didn't believe me that I was riding a 600(it is that strong). The 600 Pro-Rmk has more power than I have talent. I made two trips to Cooke this year and the 800 guys, from different manus, were very impressed. They never left me behind. You know what I would buy.

Thanks for posting the question. I am torn on the decision as well. I did watch some video of the 6 on you tube and it looks good. I think I will do the 6 and if I need more, 660 it the next year.

X2

i like the idea of a reliable engine and i still don't trust the 800 (no matter how many polaris marketing folks tell me it's fixed). the extra pull of the 800 is nice though.

Got myself the Assault this year, loved the chassis so much just dropped the $$ to snocheck a Pro-6 for the missus/kids. And if it performs how I anticipate it to, the Assault will be gone and I'll be on one too for '14 (with a DI engine perhaps?).
Super stoked to rip on that lil bugger. Being in BC, we never ride much over 7000', so the 6 should have no troubles keepin up with what I want/need it to... And lots of our riding is done around 4000' with the kids etc.. More than enough sled there...

They should put the 600 in the assault 144 chassis....they would sell the piss out of them for flatlander boondocking...no brainer Polaris!!!!

600 is a great sled. Here is a vid of me runnin the hell out of my moms....I bought a 12 800 2 days after this video.

Flatlander boondocking, now that's an interesting concept.

U know...low elevation off trail riding thru swamps, rivers, thick brush/woods, fire roads, local only private trails...(people u know), we can still do that in northern Wisconsin and michigan, plenty of open spaces!

I've never heard anyone say that they want the same weight, with less power.

That being said. I was seriously debating about snowchecking a 600. I freaking hate Polaris' 800 engine. I hope my 13' 800 holds together!

I'm snowchecking a 600 pro Rmk w/4yr warr. For the kiddo and backup sled and buying the 3 yr Polaris extended warr. On my 2012 assualt 800. In my book, its gonna blow, so its a cheap price to pay to have everything covered.
