600 HO -07 tuning tips

Super tough to estimate fuel economy and then translate that to a universal experience. So many factors of setup tied in with the conditions of the day can give you wildly different results. (oiler settings, tps, clutching, track tension, air flow, snow conditions, terrain, rider imputs, ect ect) One thing we can say is that the cfi 600 seems to be extra ordinarily reliable and a wonderful base platform for small cc mtn sleds (performance consistancy and reliability). The carb'd versions were as well...but you add some fuel management variables that could screw things up.

Just an FYI on your plug reading. Don't know how extensive you got into it or what your test sequence (so this may or may not apply but might be helpful) was but you cannot get an accurate or any telling information from plugs unless you kill your sled at the exact RPM that you are seeking information from and then the over all body condition or color of the plugs is not necessarily explaining the state of tune for a given RPM. First off it's a "burned in" response from a time duration of spark, fuel, and combustion. It changes rapidly and the "signs" or "reads" of what is going on is reported on various areas of the plug.

If anyone cares for further information go to www.f-bombracing.com and read the Digatron tech page on plug reading. There is some theory and then a schematic for field use that is very very handy.
