600 Cfi4 Reliable or not?

Just bought a 2011 600 Rmk. My first Polaris ever and my first brand new sled. I have sealed the airbox, reset the oil pump adjusment, putted electrical grease in all connections and small stuff I learned here and there on forums like here.

And I would like to ear about your experience with the 600 Cfi4 machines. How many miles you have on them and what issues you had with them mechanical or electric tell them all. Tried to find post for the 600 with no much luck. Almost all post are around the 800's.

I just sold my Yamaha Rx mountain and read the 800 reliability poll and im not sure that I made a good choice...

Thanks.

Martin

No, you made a solid choice. The Polaris 600 is synonymous with reliability. These things are rock solid and go and go...thousands of miles of trouble-free service. Talk to the rental guys and they'll tell you they have always loved the Polaris 600 motors (at least for the last decade or so). Pretty snappy motor for a 600 too...you'll have fun with it!

The only mistake you might have made was not waiting to get the motor in the new Pro RMK! :face-icon-small-ton

You are correct about the 800. To date many people have had failures, and a good percentage of those have had more than one! THAT'S a problem...and more importantly, one that Polaris won't even recognize as a problem. At least publicly anyway. Yeah they'll fix it under warranty, but not a day later than when it runs out.

The 600's, on the other hand, are bulletproof. There are some things to watch out for like the throttle body adapter (intake boots) delaminating and sealing the airbox and the headlight adjustor knob (prevent snow dust and water from getting in the intake). Get all of the updates done, perform your routine maintenance, don't use old gas and you'll be good to go.

2 known problems:

1) You run out of daylight too quickly

2) Your buddies run out of gas too quickly

You come up with your own solutions! :face-icon-small-ton

Thanks for the good comments and tips! At one moment I was afraid of the choice I done. Treemagnet, yes the new style body is nice but I think is less practical, access to the engine seems horrible and wind protection, well is there any...

And Is the Polaris Ves gold plus a good oil to run all the time for maximum engine protection or should I run something else?

Well, don't worry about your choice anymore...Just focus on the good times ahead! The Polaris VES Gold Plus oil is excellent and is the only oil I use in my sled. It's worth the cost, IMO.

Good luck with your new ride!

Yes.. Polaris VES Gold #1 in my book

Good sled!

It is fun to pass the big boys with a 600!!

Keep a Spare Belt!

Seal up headlight Adj. Knob! and Headlight!!

It really wakes up with Belly Buster Weights!! and SLP Pipe!!

my .02

Now let's pray for snow. We had almost nothing here last seasons...

Edit your profile so we know where "here" is. This also helps when you have questions about sled set-up questions, so people know where you ride.

NapaMatt:

Are the Belly Busters in equal weight as the Polaris 10- series weights?

What size weight do you run in yours, and at what elevation?

I miss my 07 already and it doesn't even go to it's new home until tomorrow!

Not one issue in 4 great seasons.

Only complaint I ever had were the running boards. (thanks for the BB's Rob!)
And the plastic front bumper. (TCP rocks!)

Bag

Dang I'm gonna miss that sled.......

09 iq 600 136 has 1500 miles, has had a bogging issue since new, mostly at long pulls on the throttle. been back to the dealer, they installed a new secondary clutch spring? still does it just not as bad. Love the sled.. handles perfect from showroom floor, pulls hard all the way to 85...flatlander riding, mostly southern Wi.

Got an 07 Switchback with the CFI4 with 7000 troublefree mile
and an 08 RMK with 3000 miles with zero troubles

You made an excellent choice. I have a 2009 dragon 600 cfi4 and that thing rips. my dad had a switchback 700 and I would pull on him all day both were stock, he sold the 700 so he could get the 600. I have 2300 miles on mine with a few extras and I have not had any problems with it at all. Get ready for a great season on that thing you wont be disappointed at all.

wow. great info here. glad this was brought up. thinking about buying a 600 cfi for a a spare and for my girl to ride. is all the above things to do the same for a 2007 700 dragon?

I've heard there are some problems with the CFI 4's and not the CFI 2's. Anyone hear of any heard of this or the reasoning behind this?
