6.2L fords

Bragging about your truck mpg is about as macho as bragging about your Dooney & Bourke man purse.
Oh that's right, it's a satchel!

Tough crowd here.

Just so were clear im talking about the all new 2014 6.2 direct injected gas engine with cylinder on demand. In a 1/2 ton truck.

I only have 2500 miles on the truck and I'm not joking one bit about the fuel mileage. The worst I get is around 19-20 hwy and thats driving across Teton pass twice a day. Any normal hwy driving is always 22-23, and if your on flat land 25-26 is no problem.

Its rated at 420hp and 460ftlb. It runs awesome when you put your foot in it :) Eric

I'm waving the bs flag all over this. My buddies 5.3's don't get that kinda mileage.

I agree with the 5.3 comment. I traded in a 5.3 on the 6.2. The 5.3 doesn't compare in anyway possible. I got 16-18 hwy with my 5.3 and 8-9 towing the same trailer.

I think you need to quit watching the instant read out and calculate an actual tank of gas. That's your mpg. Not a couple mile stretch of the best possible conditions.

Funny how that works! I get 99.9mpg in my car going to work every day... when I look at the instant read-out on the 4 mile descent down the mountain. But I only get 23.89mpg when I calculate it over 130,000 miles.

I was looking at fords web page the other day and it looked like there are 2 versions of the 6.2 for some reason. One is like 40hp less than the other. So maybe some of the guys with the work trucks have the somewhat de-tuned version. I have never drove either, but I just thought I would throw that out there.

Just looked again, one is 385hp, and the other is 316hp. Quite a difference actually..

Exactly. I just bought an ecodiesel 2 months ago and already have 7k miles on it. And the lifetime average as it reads today is 23.2. That includes all city, highway, idle times everything. Sure I've had stretches that were better. Just this weekend I went to WeFest. About 100 miles round trip. Reset the display when I left and the average was 30.7 when I got home. That was all 68mph or less and a bunch of 55mph through construction. I would never claim that it got that all the time though. Really at 75 it settles in around 26-27. And thats on long drives. Like Fargo to Sioux Falls which is 240 miles one way that I have to drive almost every weekend. So a pretty fair distance to know what it really does.

I doubt Ford would have missed their mpg estimates by that much, especially since this would have benefited them immensely in fleet fuel economy and bragging rights.

From the Ford Web Site F150, 2014 for the 6.2, mpg city/hwy/combined:
13/18/15 (4x2) 12/16/13 (4x4) 11/16/13 (Raptor 4x4

We're all talking about the f250.
