I now have a 55 gallon barrel for mixing fuel and oil but need a pump to get it out of the barrel and into my sled. Anybody know of any good syphon pumps for a fair price (under 50.00)
Thanks, Shane

Harbor Freight has a "magic" siphon hose for less than $10 (Not listed on their website, but available in all of their stores). It's a hose with a brass fitting on one end. Inside the fitting is a marble. As you bounce this end of the hose in the fuel, fuel goes up the hose, and the marble acts as a check valve. Each bounce brings the fuel farther up the hose until the siphon effect takes over.

Here is a website that shows this hose and how to use it.

Here is the nearest Harbor Freight store, in Boise.

I just use the siphon tube mentioned above. other options are harbor freight sells a pump that goes on a drill I have ben thinking of getting. With a 55 it is kind of a pain filling 5's if it is sitting on the floor when you get to the last 20 gallons or so. They also have the hand pumps that thread into the opening on the 55. I can't remember normal price, but they are on sale for only $15 some times.

The hand pump seems to work the best. I'm pretty sure that is what I will get. A couple of friends have tried about every inexpensive type of pump/siphon and both ended up getting the hand pump.

Not familiar with that one, the ones that my friends have are from the Edelbrock race shop, a couple of their used ones. They are red. The Edelbrock shop also has some sweet electric ones with drop in pump/filter, probably pricey.

Sweet!
Thanks for the help guys, Ill start with the harbor pump and go look at it.
trying to get a ride in on thur so i'll post how it did.

Those type suck IMO....fuel eats the seals then you got leaks everywhere...that VP ne no seals to leak and easy to use.....I'd reconsider

I have one that I got (like the one harbor freight) I have had it 5 years with no problems. I have pumped everything from fuel to acid with this pump, the seals that are in the pump are teflon and i am yet to wear them out. I got my pump from industrial supply for $35.
