509 goggles busted Already

Personally, yes I appreciate these threads. Can a company fix/warranty a product? Sure.. Do I want to have to go threw the hassle of dealing with said warranty issues no. I want my purchases to work the first time. Not find myself packing it in early on a powday because of a product defect. So yes If I see a number of threads with people having issues with a product I will street clear and appreciate the posters giving everybody a heads up, or look for a response from the company showing me they are really ontop of there game aware of the issues and working to resolve it. That is the point of a forum like this. Not to stick up for your buddy cause he gave you a brodeal and you think his videos are sick. Why should they keep it hush hush and only deal with the company first? If said company really wanted to keep there rep up as high as possible they would A) Test there products better B) Stay ontop of customer response on said forums. Don't get me wrong I'm not trying to beat up on 509 here.. this goes for any company.

That's not what I said at all- I specifically stated that I might try them anyway but that I appreciate knowing in advance there may be durability issues with the 509's. I've also read all the testimonials on here from people that love them.

I was not pointing to any one person, I was just making a general statement. I find these threads helpful to make informed decisions on the purchase of a product, take to pros and cons buy or don't buy..

I'm on the " I wanna hear it " team. You bet I know some guys hate everything and some guys defend their buddies junk to the end. So what, I'll decide, then spend.
The warranty fix, yeah the company (whichever) may be stand up with warranty, but if their are a lot of claims, for whatever reason, I don't want to deal with the BS issues of getting it repaired or replaced. I spent the money to use it, not ship it back and forth.
So keep posting, good and bad.

I have the 509 helmet and goggles also, they do fog up when stopped for very long.

Mine do the same just flip my helmet up when I stop though and then they seem to be fine. The 509 helmet/goggles are the best set up I have found so far. I really do like them

i do like the helmet, it's a comfortable helmet and light weight...my neck doesn't hurt like it used to...

i did however had to put my breath deflector from my old helmet into the 509 helmet and that has helped with the fogging issue somewhat better...

however...i have found that my scott goggles fit and feel better than the 509 goggles...sorry tom...but we are all different...

That's okay, the recliner I bought from Mor was a bit more comfy! But seriously everyone is different. One brand might be the best for one guy and the worst for the next. We try to make them work as good as they possibly can and hopefully for most they do perform as they should. But if not, that's why we have a satisfaction guarantee.

i use to be like WTF are all these peeps defending tom. well the longer i have been on here and see the service he provides, he sounds like a great person. ya 10 days may go by with out him answering some pm's but he will do it in time. i have 2 pair of his googles and could not be happier. i often have to put my goggles back on full of snow (i like to boondock with them hanging on my quick straps) and 2 miles down the trail there as clear as can be. just a graet goggle

cream always rises....

Love my 509 goggles, never have an issue if there is an issue...very few companies stand behind their warranties like 509...

All of us old fogies on Snowest defend those, small few vendors, who have more than proved to live through the Snowest Gauntlet...it takes a very strong vendor to maintain a good relationship with a forum...

Best goggles I've owned, and I have tried everything I know of....

I have 3 pair, just bought some polarized lenses, and also bought a pair of the new aviators. Good stuff! Rarely, if ever, fog.

Unfortunate about the foam issue, but as posted, warranty issue.

Same problem with mine. Sent him an email a few weeks ago. No respose yet. Busy guy I guess. :beer;

Best goggles I have owned to date though. Only issue is the foam letting go and my nose piece broke off. (my fault) Would be nice if that was replaceable. But can't find it separately apart from buying the whole goggles.

Well after reading all the threads on 509's, I decided the good posts outweighed the bad and bought a set of Sinisters today. I changed out to Quick Straps and will be riding tomorrow.

So far, this is what I've noticed.

-The foam completely fills in the gap above the goggles and to the sides of each eye. So I expect less problems with windburn in those areas. My only face exposure is under the goggles and that will be covered by my No-Fog.

-When viewing through the goggle they appear to have a very slight "double vision" effect- perhaps due to the double panes? I don't know yet if that will bother me. I have to be looking in certain areas of the goggle to see it.

-I like the standard tint. We expect to be riding in flat light tomorrow, and my rose-tint Scotts don't view well in flat light. Hopefully the 509 yellow tint will help me see terrain features before I hit them. :p

I'll be sure to post how they are on my ride tomorrow. It seems like a lot of people swear by them and that the goggles that have busted early are few. Plus people say good things about 509 honoring their warranty, so I have my fingers crossed.

Transporter- I was beer free. Honest!

80arrow- yes, took the film off. ;)

Ok- rode with the 509's all day today and here's my take.

The foam did a great job of filling in the gaps. I don't think air touched my face at all until I took off my no-fog mast halfway through the day when it warmed up.

The goggles fogged right off the bat even with me wearing a no-fog mask, which was disappointing to say the least, as my Scotts just simply do not fog when I'm wearing a no fog mask. That said, I wiped the insides clean with a rag and they didn't fog again all day, so that was good.

I liked the tint. We ended up riding in pretty good light, so the real test will be flat light but I did like the tint today.

All in all, I do like the goggle. My next purchase will be the polarized lens as I've heard such good things about those.

I also love mine, other than those two little issues. Sent him a PM and as expected full warranty. I send him mine and they send me new ones free. Great service. I won't be buying any other goggles than 509's in the future.

I also have not had any issues with fogging when wearing a no fog. Found that impressive as all my old pairs up till now have anyways fogged.
