509 goggles busted Already

i picked up a pair of 509 goggles this season and was really happy with them, they had plenty of foam and didn't fog, but after about 4 rides with them the foam on the top part of the goggles peeled off from just adjusting them in my helmet, while out on a ride, and now they don't seal and fog like crazy, i could probably just super glue that bad boy back on but it is still pretty lame. i was just wondering if anyone else had the foam come off. it didn't seem to be glued on that well to be honest since it peeled right off and didn't tear any of the foam in the process. im not sure what the deal is with there warranty but i think i might give them a dial Monday and see whats up.

Nice post. You think you might want to contact them about a warranty BEFORE you come on here crying???

Crying? i was asking if anyone else ran into the same problem. and seeing how i probably wont get a hold of them till monday i thought i may aswell mention it on here. i have seen numerous other people make threads about there gear falling apart and i thought i was being more level headed then most others, i wasent putting down the brand i was just asking a question and was curious if its a common problem. but you're right i may aswell go suck my thumb and cry to my momma. thanks for the useless input. anyone else?

i actually ran into some similar problems with the foam. but never got around to calling about warranty. not sure what has crashes panties in a bunch but apparently the snowest queens are going full boar on giving us all useful input:rolleyes:.

PM Tom he will take care of it.
Don't give up if you don't get in contact with him right away. He is a sledder and busy on many levels this time of year.

Crash's post is because its a common occurance on here to come on whining about or bashing a product without ever contacting them to see if they will make it right.

Your post is fine.

Good info and thanks for the heads up! don't let Crash get to you. Sounds like he's a Kool-aid drinker.....

You too? I'm going to have a sit down with God next week and see if he can warranty my junk...

To not be a post whore: Thanks for the heads up... I've been on the fence with buying the goggles. I've always been a fan of Spy and Scott... let us know how it all turns out, might seal (no pun intended) my decision.

Ditto what Rowboat said.

I find these type of threads helpful, not "whiny". There's a number of items that I'm considering purchasing as cash becomes available and the 509 goggles are one of them. I like that they have the yellow tint and that they are polarized. However, this is the third thread that indicated that they might not be that durable. When I hear from riders that their 509's fell apart on the first couple of rides, well, that's a heads-up to me. It doesn't mean I won't try them anyway, but I'm going into it better educated about possible drawbacks to the product.

I say, keep these thread's coming- it benefits everyone to know what equipment is reliable and what isn't.

You would judge a product on three threads on a forum out of tens of thousands sold, I own three sets and never a problem.

actually i bought a pair this year not that impressed my oakleys fog less than these i even bought the polarized lenses is it the lenses do you think or what i have the 509 helmet with the goggles. they only fog when i turn my head to see if my group is still fallowing. or stopped then they fog. didn't pm Tom as thought maybe it was just the hemet goggle combo was waiting to see what others said about the combo

Good to know they stand behind their products. I just ordered a set. I can't wait to get them!:D

That's not what I said at all- I specifically stated that I might try them anyway but that I appreciate knowing in advance there may be durability issues with the 509's. I've also read all the testimonials on here from people that love them.

Personally I think this is cr*p that someone comes on to a forum where its everyones OPINIONS and issues and thoughts that help the rest of us make decisions on products. I never heard him bashing 509 goggles by any means simply asked if its something himself was the cause of or if its worth his time to pursue a warranty issue? I've pursued warranty issues with companies before and you just end up wasting your time to be told (what others have ran into before) that its part of wear and tear and your responsible for it. Especially during a busy time of thier year a warranty or replacement can be pushed off. I'm not bashing 509 by any means I actually just bought thier aviator goggles and I will say I love the goggles. But due to them not having an exterior frame (on the front of the lens) and the way they pack and ship them I sent three pairs of goggles back because of scratched up lenses just above the nose because they rubbed on the plastic box. I was very dissappointed in this the first time even more the second and almost cancelled the order on the third. I appreciate people posting thier opinions, experiences, and issues with us all because thats why I read these forums. On the other hand if I don't like what someone has said...... its simple I QUIT READING....... So thanks for anyone and everyones posts on any product they have been involved with. I myself DO APPRECIATE it. Oh and please negative rep away if you do so feel.

Thanks

Aug.

the only reason the foam on mine came off is because i simply kept getting the extra foam on the top snagged in between my forehead and helmet edge when i had the helmet on and when i would pull them away from the helmet and it would pull on the foam before releasing , i did it several times before the foam just finally peeled off, im friends with Levi ,B and was accidentally using his profile when i made this thread. dont get me wrong these goggles are actually very good quality and they are so far the only goggles i have found that dont fog in minus 30 Celsius conditions if you have them sealed right. for now i just gorilla glued it back on since the damage wasent tremendous. if it comes off again though i will probably contact them about warrenty. i just dont want to go through the rigamerol of getting them replaces and not have a pair of goggles to use for the duration.

Yes, the foam is a warranty issue. Sounds like they simply didn't get well adhered from the factory. Very uncommon, but does happen. That's what the warranty is for. Just call 1-877-RIDE-509 (9-5pm PST) or email orders@509films.com with your name/order number and warranty request and we'll get you covered.

That's what I like to hear.

Every brand has it's issues, it all comes down to what that brand is willing to do to take care of it's customer.
