50 MPH crash...my 3 year olds child seat worked!!

So my wife is heading to work yesterday and a 16 year old turns in front of her right on the highway. No time to hit the brakes at all and they hit almost head on. Full airbag deployment both front seats broke there tracks and my 3 year old was FORTUNATELY strapped in 100% in the back.

I manage a body shop and am telling you peeps when you see a child seat that is strapped in correctly and it pulls the upper strap out of the metal under rear window (package tray) it really makes you DAMNNNN glad your kids are strapped in correctly. I am just as guilty as the next guy by letting them ride without strapping in for a quick trip to the store but thankfully my wife is not as lax as I am. There is no doubt in my mind that my daughter would of been seriously injured had it not been. So please take the extra time to make sure you go through the PITA process it is worth it!

Here is a pic of her when her dad was letting her ride in the truck un-strapped in just a few weeks ago...........(BAD DAD). I couldnt imagine anything happening it would kill a guy.

Im very glad your family is safe and not hurt.

This is a great reminder of the importance to strap them in correctly.

a couple extra seconds saved is not worth a life time of suffering.

No doubt....as much as I hate strapping the car seats in, it is well worth the PIA for 5 minutes.

Glad she is ok. Is your wife ok? Im bad at not straping my kid in. Things will change now.

She will be ok, thanks for asking. She got the full swollen red face from the air bags and the beginnings of pair of black eyes. I never thought much of whiplash (always thought was fraud for ins.) but she has got it bad. Cant move her head easily. She is going to PT for it today, Hopefully half dozen visits and all will be good. The insurance already called us today and has offered us 1000 dollars to settle if we sign now.

glad your little girl is ok ,i have a three year old that looks just like her. get a lawer to battle the isurace company.

Just last week at a stoplight I looked over at the truck sitting next to me and I saw an older guy (grandpa type) with a young child in his lap. I was so shocked I could barely get the dumba$$ comment out of my mouth. I almost called the cops to report it, but just let it go.

Wake up call. DING, DING. That makes a dad think. Glad she's not worse off. Don't even want to think about what could have happened.

Make sure you take pictures of her, and wife. Take some video of her having a hard time moving, working with PT, if they'll let you.

Insurance company doesn't want to fight video of that in court. Send them a copy, and ask what was the settlement they suggested, again.

I was thinking about doing a video tonight...thanks for the info! I cant believe the hurdles/road blocks we are already running into. ie, we have Aflac and my agent said to get the personal record copies from our doctors office and they are all saying they wont give us those and they have to ONLY go to the insurance company.. I am like WTF??? Called my Aflac guy back and he said it is the law that they have to. I called the office gal back that was being such a beeotch and told her what he said and she replied "no problem we will have copies ready" This could be an up hill battle.
