5.1 series track modification?

I have read the post by F-bomb on cutting down the new polaris tracks and installing screws to stiffen them up.

How do you think just cutting down 1/2 of the lugs by .25" or so would work. That would leave you with some longer that would be softer and some shorter and a bit stiffer.

Thoughts?

IMHO forget it and go get either a Camo Xtreme or a powerclaw. If you go with the Extreme they make one to fit your stock drivers. I did the fbomb mod to my track and was not very thrilled. The camo track was a HUGE difference. Dont waste your time and effort just get a new track.

track mods

happi,

It has been said that there is not enough clearance for proper air flow in the front of the tunnel on the IQ RMKs thus scrubbing hp. The extreme appears to be slightly taller. How did it appear when you were installing it?

I am trying to do something cheap this year and maybe do something next year. I thought I maybe able to cut up 1/2 of the lugs and possibly improve the track.

I installed a holz rear coil over last year and when I get into the throttle the sled just likes to spin, there is no forward surge, just spin.

Thanks for your input,

I had thought about doing the mod...but am going with the extreme...stock drivers, kurts(fastrax) drop and roll with anti-stab wheels...I already run the holz with carls floats...

I did the track mod to my 07 D7 and I was very impressed with the improvement in the hole shot. I basically cut back the curl that was curling back the wrong direction. IT made a huge differece in acceleration. I might have lost a tad in the powder, but not much considering the track was already curling backwards. I didn't do the screws.

I did the Camo Extreme on my 09 D8 mostly because I thought that track was a lot softer than my D7. I got a pretty good deal on it so I did it this summer.

Did you take your front cooler out or was there enough clearance thinking of putting the extreme on my sled also? Thanks Jim
