if your original name is available, there is no problem in changing your user name to that instead. But if another member is now using it, then its a problem.

Yes and No.
I can reset your membership date by hand.
BUT...
If we ever have to do a rebuild of the database it will kick out the date I enter by hand and use the date when Harris Publishing rolled over the forums and updated all of the accounts before I came to work with them.
