40 truck pile up on the summit between Laramie and Cheyenne

I called it in after a semi started sliding toward me and took out the first 10 cars sitting next to me before I hit the ditch and got the f outta dodge!! I was stopped and watching this truck barrel down on everyone in my review mirror when I drove around the gaurd rail and saved my sleds and trailer from total inialation!

i have always though that would be a easy place for a big crash to happen. It seems like everytime we drive through there it is 50 mph winds and frozen roads.

Yeah, that nice twisty road coming down into laramie's a b*tch when it snows. I've done a few 360's on that when I was at UW (Spent a lot of time up on sherman). That semi parking lot at the lincoln monument turns into a big skating rink when it snows.

That whole section from about 25 mile west of Cheyenne all the way to Point of Rocks is a slick mess most years. I crossed it last weekend going to Kemmerer from Gillette, not slick but wow has it took some damage over the last year. Rough to drive across. I'll stick to the slower, over the mountains route the rest of the winter.

Your tellin me. I travel from Wamsutter to Saratoga every weekend to ride. When the roads icy and the winds blowin mach 90 like it usually is it gets kinda spooky hauling the trailer back and forth.

when i went to school at UW i think i liked 287 :eek: more than that section of road when coming up from home. that road is so windy and icy.
For sure, but now I know a open trailer can fit between the gardrail and the rock cliffes!!!;):beer; It was a scary beotch seeing that semi coming sideways at me and pick up speed and cars on it's way. The problem was trucks were using the summit as a parking lot and blocking the drive lanes. I told 5 of them at the top of the hill to get the heck to the e-lane. One semi tractor trailer at the bottom was jackknifed when I passed him, but he wasn't even in the drive lanes. Sure my tracks and the hp's tracks are still there, cause they followed mine to get to the jack knifed truck.

Oh yeah, they were skidoo's That is why I saved them my trailer was nice till a drunk hit it and the cheyenne police "forgot to get her insurance during here jail time. Now I have to sue her for a new trailer. bent axle!! and side. Thought about letting the truck hit it, but my truck and sleds would have taken a beating. Be carefull guys worst I've seen that road in 4 years of driving it every day. They closed it right behind me before the truck accident was called in by me.

I think I'd sue the Cheyenne police at the same time. What little contact I've had with them, I haven't felt they are of the utmost professionals out there. Small men with (notso) big badges.....

My exact feelings, and the cop was a female rookie. I have nothing against female cops, but they need to do the same job as the men, maybe my exspectations are high because I know most the cops in Laramie and on the Hp, due to my whole family being in law enforcement but me. I think the problem was they were so excited they caught the lady passed out in a field and got her with leaving the scene of an accident, DUI, and wreckless driving do to scattering of parts, I identified the car they were looking for by paint transfer and part numbers on the back of mouldings, that they forgot to ask her dumb arse for insurance and could not get in the passengers side of the car cause my trailer cut her car like a can opener. Atleast I have that going for me!!!:D

Oh yeah roads weren't bad on the way home tonight untill a 6 place enclosed flipped right in front of me. And I had to hit the ditch for the second time in 24 hours. We were only doing 45 mph too.

And does anyone know a good lawyer in Cheyenne, cause I'm moving to Wellington and want a new trailer to haul my stuff down on, or atleast the price of one to fix mine on my own?

Spell check not working duhhhh. This happened at about 2:00 a.m this morning, I got a 5 hour head start so I could line things up for the weekend and figure out who's sled I'm painting tommorow night and get to work for my students cause I knew 2 other teachers from Cheyenne woul;d never make it through that stuff in their cars. P.S. look for some awesome painted 10High extreme sleds this year, not alot of airbrushing though cause we wreck sleds all the time, need something fairly simple to redo to match the rest of the sled, stuff like realistic carbon fibre, marbilizing and hand pinstriping!!:D:beer;:beer;:beer;
