4 stroke aftermarket tether install

bought a proarmor tether for my 1100 turbo. been fighting with it to get it to work. even downloaded the instructions for the cat tether install. At this point I am assuming that the tether for the fourstroke it not the same as the 2 stroke models. Is the 4 stroke looking for a normally closed type tether? I really like the aftermarket tethers better than the cat ones. Has anyone had any luck installing one on thier 4 stroke?

after some research it seems on a 4 stroke you can tie one wire in to ground and then piggy back the other to the wire supplying the power to the ignitions coils. There are ton's of atv guys that do this. Does anyone see an issue with damaging the ignition system using this method? I really like the proarmor tether compared to the ones with the rubber cap. Anyone out there try this method before?

You could also just get a clip style normal closed tether. I'm sure you'll find someone who'll take that one off your hands.
