30% only race gas on bd turbo breakin?

When you set your boost at whatever number you do. The EBC will keep that same boost as you go up or as you go down in elevation... So when I set one of our turbo sleds boost in the parking lot (9000 ft) at 8#'s as I go up in elevation the boost will automatically go up to keep the boost level at 8#'s So when i get to a higher elevation I will see something like 10.5 as my boost on the EBC, while the sled is idling. The EBC is keeping a consistent 8#'s and self adjust with the atmosphere pressure. The same goes as you are going back down in elevation. The EBC helps from over boosting when you come back down. When I get back to the trailer the EBC will say 8 again..

Picked up 100 Octane today and plan to run 3-4 gallons for my break in ride tomorrow.
I have the 2012 BD Non-Intercooled Turbo kit. I will be starting at 4.o psi on the EBC at the parking lot and adjust from there. I am still a bit confused about it's function/effect. So, basically, if I run 4.0 psi at 8k', the EBC will automatically adjust the boost to compensate for changes in elevation. Does this mean, I will in effect, always be running the equivalent to 4.0 lbs at all elevations. At optimal elevation, let's say 10.5k', is that more boost? So am I better leaving the boost lower and go from there?

You got it. Before boost comes on, the number in the EBC is where the EBC will allow boost to go. Once boost comes on its showing current boost. Just don't let it mess you up, but the lowest you will be able to run is 8.0 lbs., unless you got the low boost actuator. So if you set 4 lbs in the EBC you will still see approx around 8. Its kind of confusing but the spring is holds the waste gate closed until spring tension is reached which is usually 8 lbs. After that the waste gate is closed using boost controlled by the EBC.

I was nervous the first time out so I set 6 lbs to be careful and I first hit it and I went to 8lbs. I thought something was wrong, but its just as low as you can go.

Thx shadowrider. Got out on the sled today!

Not to hijack the post. More like, giving first hand fuel feedback.
I ran 8lbs of boost at elevation, 3 gallons of race fuel (110) and not a hiccup!
Ran great, pulled hard. Tough conditions to gauge much more than any det issues or blown seals, hose clamps. BD Turbo ripped today. Probably 10 miles tops however. We will see once we get it into some pow.

Great to hear. Thanks, looking forward to it. What elevation?

Will have more info for you after Cooke next week

Very cool info. I feel much better about 8.5 psi.going to stay put after reading the thread. We never run lower than 8500' so that makes it pretty cut and dried for me. Thanks all for the great info.

Where are you riding Sledwolf? We are in N. Utah, have crap for snow. So, we are headed to Cooke next week. Keep you posted on the fuel mixtures. There will 6 or 7 Turbos running in our group for this trip and varying Boost. I will try to keep track of each and get back to you with info.

we ride the southern end of the state, Tushar mts. High elevation stuff. Much of it over 11k. Keep me posted.

Cool thanks. No snow here either. Had one ride on the high country roads for sw breakin time but that's it. Not enough snow to push it and see where it she's really at. Wyo in two weeks maybe find enough snow there to see what she can do?
