3" track on stock belt drive???

I am more interested in the new Camso 2.8 track as an add on to the Axys with a 2.6. Too new to know if it would be an improvement or not. Next season, it will be interesting to see how it works though. It, too, requires the 3" driver conversion. Bummer about that. I really liked my 2.6 as far as how it worked in the snow (all types). I didn't ride enough miles to find out about the durability problems that some have had. I think I put about 800 miles on mine last winter.

I had a 13 Pro with the X3 on it. My 2.6 Axys would run circles around that sled. Not even in the same league. Like comparing a 600 to an 800, there was that much difference. I also don't think that I would want any lower gearing than what was accomplished by going from 7 tooth drivers from 8 tooth drivers on the Pro. It knocked the top speed down by 10 mph at least. On the Axys that already is using 7 tooth drivers, it might warrant a desire to have lower gearing. I am not sure about that given that the Axys is making more power. My buddy geared his Axys chain drive 3" sled up because it was geared too low. He left it that way even after he put a 174" X3 on it. That is a lot more track with a lot more weight and he still wanted it geared up for track speed. It was not a stock motor but not turboed either. Pipe, head and porting was what he had done. I much prefer the Quick Drive to the chain so whatever track that I might change to is going to have to work with combination.

I have a 16 axys 163 that I bought mid winter. I had been riding a 13 pro 163 stock with a x3 and after riding the axys decided it was a need. I liked the 2.6 track but loved the x3 on the pro so I swapped tracks before ditching the 13. I did swap drive shafts to keep the avid 3.0 drivers and had to trim the rails and the track tensioner blocks to allow the rear boggies to slid forward enough to accept the shorter track as it's a 162 (didn't have to on the 13 but had to on the 16). The 16 loves the x3 and I'm my opinion it's a far better track than the 2.6 especially as the snow gets deeper. The newer sled also runs cooler that the 13 with the 3" for some reason and I won't complain. When compared to the exact sled with the 2.6 the x3 consistently out climbs the 2.6.

I believe you are right LH!

To add to this... the steel driveshaft (chaindrive) will go in place of the aluminum driveshaft (QuickDrive™)... but not vice-versa.

.

I'll add to this as I just did this. To do this on the Axys, you will need to get the shorter bolt for the lower sprocket that came on the 13-15 QD drives. I know it's an M10 but don't remember the pitch, I think it's 1.25 and the length is 25mm. You can get a 10.9 FLANGED bolt at just about any hardware store that has a good selection of metric bolts.

In addition, the steel drive shaft weight with 7T 3.0 pitch drivers is close to the same weight as the stock drive shaft on the QD equipped sleds.

Here's the post with the weights of the 2 drive shafts set for my sled. Aluminum has 8T 2.86 Avid drivers & the steel shaft had 7T 3.0 Avid drivers (not the center drive drivers)

For the guys that have installed the 7 tooth extro's how much did u cut off the rail tips? Who's antistab kit did u use?

On the front of the skid there is a cross bar that holds your limiter strap. You will cut the rail tips back to this point leaving enough for the hole to still be used.

The anti stab kit will replace said cross bar and your limiter strap will re-attached to the new anti stab bar. It is also advised to add a second limiter strap while in there.

There is several companies making Anti-Stab kits. Iceage Performance and Avid Products are two of them.

I ran a 162 X3 on my '14 BD Turbo Pro at 12 lbs with the stock drive belt with Fire 'N' Ice tensioner and it made it 2500 miles before the belt went. The bolt in the bottom gear actually came out and the lower gear was stripped from the shaft. The belt broke too. This was due to neglect and not looking over the sled before riding. I ride with 10+ turboed Pro's and Axys' and I've only seen broken stock belts on the '13 models.

My '16 sled was an Axys 162 3" with chain case and BD Turbo at 12 lbs. I pressed on the Avid anti ratchet's and put on a 3.2". The install of the Avid drivers and track was a cinch. Robbie talked me into putting the anti ratchets on vs using the stock center drive Polaris drivers to prevent from tearing the track. This setup as been awesome!

The only issue I've had on these sleds was hitting a stump and breaking the outside idler wheel on the anti-stap kit, which was a 5 minute fix.
