3" in a Nytro

Ok, Have been really toying with the idea of a 3" CE. My question is will it fit with the front cooler removed? Does it fit well or is it going to be pretty tight. Also what about trimming it down to 2.75. Or is it not a big enough difference to deal with the problems to make it fit and just stick with a 2.5.

Remove the front cooler kit and order the Block Off Plate from Van Amburg. Reroute your cooling lines. I can tell you how if you need it. The 3 inch will have about 1/2 an inch clearance at the front of the plate. The trouble area with the 3 inch is where the track comes around at the secondary shaft. The Cooler Delete Kit from Van Amburg comes in 3 pieces. The front piece, the bottom piece and the little piece that covers the secondary shaft. The track will rub on the piece that that sits under the secondary shaft. You simply have to cut the little angle tabs off each side at the rear of the plate and bend it up on the back side of the secondary shaft, put your third piece over the jackshaft and your good to go. The fit and finish of the Van Amburg plate is top notch. The front plate is pre drilled then you just rivet the bottom and top plates to each other and the front plate and your good. You could probably get away without using the bottom plate but then you secondary is exposed to the snow and spring mud. Even though there is a bearing housing I wouldnt suggest it. Since your removing the front cooler I suggest leaving the radiator in place. Don't forget that as of right now the 3" only comes in a 16" wide so you will have to grind down the bolts on the back side of the stock yami tunnel plates to flush with the plate. You may have other stuff to retro fit as well depending on your tunnel type.

Thanks motleyone. I'm running a PowerAddiction tunnel with a little extra coolers so I can hopefully remove the front cooler AND the radiator. If heat is a problem ill put the radiator back in. Guess a 162x16x3 is going on the shopping list

call chad at CR racing he has some thing that lets you run the 3 inch and keep the cooler :face-icon-small-hap

with a vise , welder and a litte time you could make youre own , not worth 400 bucks

actually i seen how much time terra alps is putting into the cooler mod. and if you think you could do it in a few hrs with a vice and a welder? lmfao! good luck.

it took me and a buddy around 4 hours and a case of beer , came out nice . the worst part was the fitting on the side . some people were making customs ones but a brass t from home depot worked nicely for him. we did have a finished one to look at though

LOL 4 hrs I doubt it, but if you want to hack something together, anything is possible.
so you + buddy 4 hrs = 8hrs.?

The front cooler is a cross member for the chassis so it has to be strong and well built. Our cooler mod is a kit so it comes with everything needed to install it. All parts are cnc cut. By time I would start setting up cut lines on the cooler, cutting up the stock cooler, set it up with the new pieces, tack weld it, make sure its perfect, weld it completely. Air test it to 30 lbs, set up with all the bolts and hardware for the client purchasing it $395 is cheap. and it takes longer then 4 hrs plus all the jigs I made up to make it perfect. Theres more to it but I'm not going to mention, If people don't want to buy it thats fine they can learn the hard and do it themselves. to each there own.

Yeah it will be copied, just a matter of time like everything. but we made it for those wanting it and its made well.

Thanks,

When i did mine I had the pieces from paul the whole project took about 5 hrs including tearing the sled apart and putting it back together. Pauls parts and instructions made it so easy.

Wow, so to pull out rear skid, take apart chaincase and brake assembly, take out track, driveshaft, jackshaft, drill out rivets on upper heat sheild and remove, drill out rivets on front cooler, widen chassis, and remove, modify cooler?(welding it or whatever making sure its not warped) with what parts they give you, then assemble all back together in 5 hrs. sitting on the floor.
I doubt it.
But I would love to have someone come to my shop, and do this so I can see it for myself. I will supply all beer and lunch and dinner if it takes that long, then you can pay me back after 4-5hrs. LOL.

that's great business sense there remind me again why anyone should do business with such ignorance. bashing anyone who has done a job different other than the way you perceive it to be done, grow up. dont bash someone just so you can justify the price you charge. all I am saying is that that's what it took to do the job.

i can see this through a bussiness point. a builder or designer spends hrs of time developing a safe reliable product and joe jackazz comes on here and says he can do that in a vice with a hammer and a welder. these are the same ppl that will drop there sleds off when they fawk it up or even worse sell to a not knowing poor guy and want it fixed. and then when they get the bill they cry. i see it all the time.

sure yes i agree fair enough, for some that will do. If I was not able to do that job I would be glad to pay for it to be done right, at least be nice about it.

. I have the same kit as spooled and it took me about 6 hours with no instructions the first time .it seems like you're out to pump up your new nytro parts and that's fine . But people have already come up with these parts and they have been tried and tested , now to come on here and say how great yours are ? wheres the proof ?
