i have a ski doo zx that i am putting wahl brother 7 tooth 3.0 extro's on with a 153 attack 20. my problem is that the drivers do not stay in sync with the track. i only have the driveshaft mounted in the chaincase and bolted in on the clutch side, and the suspension bolted in. rolling the track around by hand the extros are not staying in the same place, basically coming out of timing. if track is rolled enough times around, will actually not be in the window at all and lift the track by the grouser. i have the drivers mounted on the shaft so they clear the track clip outer edge. i have measured the drivers and they are 3" from center to center of extro's. any help would be great.

2 things come to mind, did you line up the timming marks on the drivers? The arrows that point up? They should be across from each other. Second thing is your track, do you have one of the newer cat Tracks which runs a continous row of smaller lugs on the out side edge? Ran into that on my brothers ZX sled and Cat 162 track, had to trim the ones in the window of the track for everything to work right.

the arrows are aligned. not sure what you mean by the continous row of lugs on the outside?? there are 6 rows of lugs, 1 on either side of the windows and 2 in the center.

How loose is the track? Spin the driveshaft not the track and see if it still does it, sounds like the track is way to loose and by spinning the track by hand it's pulling it around the driver.

My thought with extroverts is to be able to run the track loose. Why would track tension be throwing of the timing? This is a brand new track and brand new drivers. I will be trying all suggestions this weekend, will let you know how it turns out. Thanks for the help. When measuring the drivers the drive lugs are 3" center to center

zx drivers

same thing happens on mine.... if you turn track by hand this will happen but if it turns under power it does not.....you can test this by turning the secondary clutch over with no belt...... i called whal and they told me this and it is the norm.

Loose is one thing, to loose is something else.............there is a point where too much of a good thing is bad. IMHO a 153 track should be set w/about 1-1.5 inches of sag in the middle of the skid.

I have used Whal 3" pitch drivers on 2 sleds and imo they suck. They will rub and lift the track causing binding and noise. Whal Bros will just tell you that they will wear in, but by the time they do they are shot. Switched to avids and the track rolls easier with no noise or binding.

i have read that these drivers suck but i got a super deal on them and could not pass them up.

I've been running Avid 7t 3.0 extros, spinning a 156x16x2.5 Camo Extreme for,I think 4 years now, didn't have any issues like your describing.:face-icon-small-con
Hope you get it sorted out.

thanks for all the advise. here is one more thing, my rear suspension was very hard very little drop if any when i sat on it, i had to jump on the tunnel to get it to move. i unbolted the suspension and tried to collapes it, the suspesion moved very easily. i then bolted it back in to the sled (front only) rear bolts freeand sat on the sled, suspesion moving freely. so im thinking that my suspension is not properly aligned. i did a skid set back and drilled new holes, the holes are off and causing binding, could this also be causing the track not to track straight and causing the track to come out of sync with the drivers???? thanks again
