Like the title says my dad and I are going to drive 28 hour round trip to ride 6 hours.

My name is John, I'm a sledaholic.

I drive 22-24 hours one way(Indiana to Colorado) to sled, but usually ride more than 6 hours. 4th time this winter coming up

If I drive 6 hours to sled, and 6 hours back...I need to sled for at least 12 hours to make it worth my while.

That is my rule. I try to stick to it.:cool:

Hey don't feel bad, a buddy and I drove from WI to Wy through the dakotas and down into douglas to visit a friend and ride, but when we got there(in the middle of JAN.) it was 60 degrees and no snow, we ended up driving down to Laramie to ride for 2 hrs. then drive back home in the morning. Said and done that was a 32 hr. round trip counting the snow storm we were caught in in MN. Now thats bad!

Just a question.....if you guys like sledding so much and have to drive so far to do it, and DO drive so far to do it many times per year.....why not move west?

Since you guys are bragging about how far you drive to sled, I'll brag that I drive 45 min. and sled min. 10 hours. Awesome that we have new snow this week I'm going to take off early from my good paying job in the west!

For me it is a great job, and wife's family nearby

it's hard to move out west when all your family is here, girlfriends family, job, and all your riding buddies, and you summertime hobbies are here also.

I took a 9 hour drive to ride 24 miles in the sleet clouds, fog and rain...and then turned around and drove 9 hours again.

Sometimes you do what you gotta do.

And I agree with the sledding is like sex comment. You just dont want to stop, that or it is like that hill you been climbing all day. You just have the urge to hit it again, and again, and again.....

Answer,,,your family can travel,get a new girlfriend or make her move with you,there are a sh1t load of jobs here,you'll make new friends and the summer time activities are are just as plentiful,,,,or better yet,,,stay there,,,,leaves more snow for us:D:beer;

I dunno about that girlfriend thing, theres some pretty good lookers out west and some of them like to sled to. :face-icon-small-win
