22 Matryx Munster Throttle Install Help

On older sleds going into a sidehill I typically liked gripping and overhand grip like doing a pullup. But that was older sleds...and I was in much stronger back then. I understand the Axys and Matrix chassis is much easier to pull over. Even though one can just loosen the thumb throttle for it to pivot. I'm thinking not just avoiding taking the throttle into the thigh and those front end drops that have a tendency to push you into the bars causing you to goose the throttle by accident would be two reasons enough to go with a finger throttle. Anyone find any difficulty compared to thumb throttle pulling a left sidehill with good throttle control while pulling with that hand?

I would guess a lot has what you get used to. Will say one thing people say is a downside is whacking tree branches causing hitting the throttle. Munster sells an optional guard but honestly not sure why anyone wouldn’t run one? My limited riding experience and experience with one I hit plenty of branches cuz I suck and cant seem to stay outa them and I did bury myself into one into a stuck and smash the throttle into a tree to the point that it rotated it on the bars. Woulda ended bad without the guard. Throttle was fine once I loosened the bolts and got it back. Definitely get the guard.

I think the finger throttle feels more natural. Left-hand sidehills feel the same but right-handed feel like you have more control. I had it on my 19 Alpha and will be putting one on my 9R. Like Fos mentioned, after riding with one for 4 years and then riding a thumb throttle this year I did hit the throttle quite a few times with my hip due to being used to the finger.

Finger throttle feels better to me. It really comes down to preference. I have friends that like thumb, that's what they learned on and what they prefer. I came off a snowbike and I dirtbike in the warm months so having my fingers extended for clutch and brake is always a thing anyways. I bought the guard for mine. I much prefer it over the thumb, though I can ride a thumb one as well, just not as much dexterity in my thumb as I have in my fingers.
