20's on a Tahoe

Anyone put 20's on a 03/04/05 4WD Tahoe? I have an 04 it has 17's that are factory. I am looking into a rim that will fit the 04 and I can use on a 07/08 when it is time to trade.

What will the RIDE BE LIKE switching from 17 to 20"s? I have done search and found somethings like Transmission recalibration, and the air psi sensors need to be recalibrated?????

if you run low-pro tires the ride will suck you will feel every bump.

unless you go up in tire size you wont need to recalibrate your speedo.

i dont think you will need to recalibrate the TPMS

I was looking at the 07 Tahoes. And they look to have somewhat of a sidewall to the tire, and they are 20's. Not sure if that combo would fit on my 04 or not.

The bad part about this is I had 16's on my 02, I traded that for the 04 and the brakes are bigger on the 04. So the aftermarket 16's i have clear the rear brake caliper by about 1/4 inch. Which might be to close??? Other wise I would run my 16's

I have a buddy who runs brake calipers on his rear diff.with probably less than 1/4" clearance on his wheelin rig and has no problems, I would say you should be ok with the 16's. Thats my .02$

Right.
Clearance is clearance.
Heat expansion will be virtually nil, so 1/4" is more than ample.

These are American Racing series 113 Burst wheels. I have E-Mail American racing once and they said NO they would not fit. And they are discontuied. Just now I went on the webiste uder application guid and it show that the wheel is listed for a 2004 4x4 Tahoe. So either their website is wrong or the person that E-Mail me back is wrong.

I fit just the rims on the front and rear(no tires yet, trying to firgure out if this is going to work) and the fronts seem to be no problem. But like I said on the rears, I had a person push on the brakes and I checked the clearance.

On the factory 17's I probably have and inch on clearance from the inside of the rim to the outside of the caliper.

My only concern is rocks, and snow/ice with the 1/4 inch clearance with the 16's to the brake caliper..........

THANKS GUYS!!!

I would definately not worry about the clearance issue. My buddys truck see's the worst of all conditions, snow, mud, Rock crawling and has no issues at all.

This is my 04 and these are 20's:D:D

the 16's should work fine on an 04..on the rear axle a quarter inch is plenty of clearance..the calipers wont deflect outward near that much even on panic stops...if you can bolt the rims on and spin them without hitting anything you should be good to go...on the newer gm's they have a bigger brake package so 16's wont even bolt on .they hit the caliper hard...

I have been searching the web all mounring. I have found that some/all Tahoes that came factory with 17's have a 16 inch spare???Not sure about that, I will have to check mine.

Looks like the 16's will fit......GM making bigger brakes from the 02 to the 04 has caused me alot of searching.......bastards:) thing does stop better though....
