2022 Polaris Matryx RMK, Jaws Race Can

A friend of mine just received his Jaws Race can earlier today and the first thing his noticed is a hole right in the top of the pipe. Was wondering if there’s a reason for this hole or if anyone else has had the same thing happen.

Yeah, part of it could be trying to get out product any which way they can while being short-staffed. I think there are better brands out there, but hopefully this isn't a common thing from Jaws. No way would I run it as-is. If he wants to stick with that can, get a replacement.

For sure. I believe he’s just going to fix it up himself since it’s been over a month coming in. Can’t imagine how crazy some shops must be getting at this time of year, especially now with everyone being short-staffed. Shipping has been nuts lately too.

Shipping and availability are definitely more of a concern than they should be. If it were me, I'd be tempted to fix it (I've got a little MIG welder), but I can't recommend that. The trouble is, if the pipe or the rest of the weld cracks, there's a good chance they blame the repair (even if it's professionally done). At a minimum, try to get in touch with customer support and see if they'll acknowledge the defect and give some assurance on the warranty before he patches it.

Return that ****.

First off, race/mtn cans are dumb and annoying for everyone.

Also, unless thats a double walled heat shield section then no, its just a hole in the exhaust.
Agreed!! Those who run loud cans ARE part of the problem with us getting riding areas shut down. Pseudo power from loud cans is just that . . . worthless pseudo power!!

No regulated areas or decibel limits where I’m located in Canada. Not the biggest fan of extremely loud like the Rowdy but do like a good sound. We wouldn’t be running them if the few people in our area had an issue with them.

I agree with the other sentiments about loud cans-- BUT clearly you guys don't give a sh!t..... bummer. There is no place "where people don't care" on crown land or public land.
Caribou closure ring a bell?

Performance-- that "straight through design" doesn't hold enough heat in the pipe. Without heat, the pipe won't scavenge the cylinders as well and pull the intake charge through.

You can't cheat physics. Typically, "race" (do you get trophies in your race?) cans lose a couple hundred rpm versus similar clutched sleds with stock cans/ baffled aftermarket cans.

Im from Canada. No noise police in my area. Some guys out running around yesterday with loud exhaust. Just obnoxious garbage. Dont want hear it. You need the govenment to tell you whats right and wrong, then complain when they do!!!!

Im all for quiet exhausts. Normally I don't chime in but I really don't like seeing wrong information spread.
For you dont need heat in the muffler. The scavenging occurs in the large tuned pipe pre turbo. After the turbo your goal is to get the gas out as easily and fast as possible. You do not need nor want back pressure post turbo.

Umm this isn’t a turbo thread……

The OP posted a picture of an N/A can.

And a tight stinger on a “race” can sometimes works but most of them do lose power.

Jaws doesn’t have a good record for cans that don’t throw codes or lose power……..

.

I must not have been clear in my explanation.

You are correct you don't need heat in the muffler.... BUT a pass through ("race") muffler allows exhaust gas to exit too quickly.

Leading to less heat retention in pipe.

Ever notice how a hot pipe pulls more rpm? Or after your pipe cools down from a stuck or short break the sled falls on its face until pipe is hot again?
