I have no experience with an ayxs but was considering an 850 163. Which is the best track 2.6 or 3". Burandt says 2.6 but what does he know lol.
Kinda waiting till there's more ride reviews on the rmk850 and the alpha 1.

I would say it depends where u ride. I ride eagles and it's always deep so I go 3". But guys that don't ride deep all the time probably go with 2.6

That's where I ride mostly as well. Heard that the 2.6 gets on top quicker, and u get the belt drive. so don't know if that combo results in more track speed or what. Makes sense I guess.
Thanks

I stick with the 2.6 for the quick drive, also, rumour is the 2.6 stands up better than the poo 3", however currently three 3" poo tracks in our group and no issues to date.
If by chance you want the quick drive belt system and the 3" track, it would be cheaper to add an aftermarket belt drive to your sled than change out the track..

TKI belt drive and 3" or Quick Drive and 2.6", but 15 # is 15# IMO.

2.6 works great for me. I never seem to hit them super deep pow days, so it's a bunch more versatile for the riding / frequency I get out :)

3" all day long! Ive had both on an axys and you cant feel any handling difference between the belt drive and chain case. I really like the lower gearing the 3" comes with and the fact you can change the gearing for 30-50 bucks and not 700.00+
chain case sleds also come with the steel driveshaft which will never let you down.
You also dont need to carry/buy a spare quick drive belt for 200 bucks. Plus the lower gearing is also better for belt life and clutch heat.

Keep in mind you can gear down an axys belt drive with pro ride gears. Mine cost $50 from hay days. I have never carried a spare and have 1400 trouble free miles on mine, track has probably ratcheted 30 times and ive jumped countless times with a full throttle landing. I used to be one of the scared guys to run belt drive, until i bought my 16. Ive ridden a chaincase sks but it had the 2.4 and felt like the throttle response was no comparison BUT the 2.4 was probably a contributing factor... Never ridden a chaincase 3"... But the increased throttle response is worth it all day for me.

Interesting as I have ridden both and agree that I can't tell a difference between the two, not in handling or throttle reaponse.

I'm going to 3x163 putting on a tki belt drive and a 3 in power claw there will be plenty of power claws for sale with guys putting monorail on there cats. I don't know why but I feel the powerclaw is a superior track to any built to date it just flat works.

Don't sound like there will b any monorail kits to purchase anytime soon. Cat as put that on hold. Only way to get it now is to snow check an alpha 1.smart move by cat to get more sales on alphas I guess. The power claw is a great powder track. What I don't like about it is it sucks in the braking department, especially when the snow is set up.

BDX is taking deposits for alpha kits. $3500 for track and suspension.

Rode the 850 today in a 163x3” and it was a blast. You will not be disappointed in that sled if that’s the way you are leaning. I think I would have a hard time straying from that combo. Didn’t ride a 2.6” to compare...I’m sure it’s great as well.

Keep in mind that a 2.6” will always be a better “all around” sled and the 3” will always be a little more deep snow specific. We’re not talking huge differences tho
