2019 SILVERADO.... VIDEO.... COOL NEW FEATURES AND AN INLINE 6 DIESEL

Nice concept but I want nothing to do 1/2 ton diesel for now. My work trucks are diesel and they are spendy to maintain. I like my gasser for an everyday day driver.
I wonder how the 1/2 ton diesel would start when you are on Lake of the Woods for a few days at -31 air temps?

They start the same way the full size ones don't. :face-icon-small-win

I really want to see an Ecoboost type 3/4 ton. After seeing the power and MPG out of the new F-150's I bet there is a huge market for that truck with that type of motor. Which is also why I bet we don't see one for a bit yet as that would cut down on Diesel truck sales.

Sincere question....

With Nissan and Ram offering the 1/2 ton Diesel packages....

What engines are they using?

What is the additional purchase price of the diesel option compared to the exact same package with the Premium gas offering?

The Ecodiesel is a $4,300 upgrade to the Ram MSRP and the neighbor paid $3,000 for the upgrade at the dealership on his 2017.

Nissan is $5,000 MSRP. No idea on actual retail on that one.

They should start just fine provided you have the correct fuel in them and a good set of batteries. I cant tell you how many times I have started my duramax after sitting for a week in -20 to -30 temps without being plugged in. Last year in Cooke, mine sat in the parking lot for 4 days and the warmest overnight temp was -20. The morning we left it was -25. The cummins next to me on the other hand had wasn't liking the cold.

They had extra money to make round wheel wells since they didn't have to pay the taxpayers back.

But yet you still borrow money from the crooked banks we bailed out with our tax payer money to buy your truck. All these terrible decisions the bankers made that got them in hot water then they get rewarded with 40 million plus bonusses with our taxpayer bail out money. They may have lost their CEO position at bank A or B but got one hell of a bonus. Now most of these crooks sit on the Presidents boards and what not. Lobbying to have no regulations for these banks. No lessons were learned they just keep making bad decisions.

What does an EcoBoost Gas option add to the price of a 1/2 ton Ford?

Nice updates, I'm assuming they apply to the HD line as well as this seemed to talk about their 1500 line.

Funny how they have been knocking Ford so hard in the commercials for aluminum in their trucks, only to now brag about applying light weight aluminum in all hinged panel areas. I bet in the next couple years they'll have aluminum throughout. Maybe they'll get everything I like about my Ford on their trucks by 2022 when I am ready to buy another.

The HD lineup will be updated the year after the half ton.

GM used aluminum control arms in 2014, before Ford did. GM slammed Ford for Aluminum truck boxes, nothing else. in 2014 GM used aluminum hoods as well. GM still doesn't use an aluminum box, because of the reasons already stated, it doesn't hold up like high strength steel does. Prior to this redesign, I believe the Ford was only like 200 lbs lighter than GM.

IDK, I guess I just can't get on the 1/2-ton diesel bandwagon ... I was really hoping GM would follow suit with a turbocharged gas motor like Ford did with the Ecoboost V6 instead of the diesel thing .... but do it with the 6.2L V8 gas motor and put it in the 2500 and 3500 trucks :)

I think you're gonna see a turbocharged v6. They will 5 motors for the half ton. 3 have been announced.

There is nothing wrong with the 6.0 in the HD. It is a super strong, durable motor. That thing will run until the end of time if you keep fluid in it. It's actually designed to run without fluids if you run it out for whatever reason.

The 6.2 while has tons of power it cannot handle the continued load of a towing and pure HD work. Not like the 6.0 can. The 6.2 does not have as good of internal cooling as the 6.0 does.
