Ford already advertising the 2018 F150
Available with a Powerstroke!
Not for me, but interesting nonetheless.

going the wrong way the EB motors put out more than plenty for a 1/2er just put a 5.0 EB in the 3/4-1 toners

For my use, I agree with you. But we all know the EB gets horrible fuel economy when being worked.
The competition would have a field day with those numbers.

ya the dodge ED gets great mileage on the flat bed to and from the dealer.....

A guy at work has one. Bought brand new just over two years ago. 80k miles and he just got the 3rd motor put in. He's got a claim going to have dodge buy it back as a lemon. It's been a huge pic for him. He lives 40 miles out of town in the mtns and they would onl give him a fwd rental car. He kept getting stuck in the snow. Would not recommend.

Imo a half ton diesel is the worst of both worlds. All the cost and maintenance of a diesel with pulling capacity of a half ton.

Ford wouldn't offer the small diesel unless they were under tremendous pressure to do some from the competition. That has always been one of the driving reasons to buy the F250 over the F150

Just when Christopher thought he knew what truck he wanted, Ford goes and does this to him!

I would love to see a 5.0 eco, I think we will eventually. Might be in a car though.

Perhaps in SVT form or something special like that.

Otherwise it is simply tremendous overkill for a half ton.

I thought Ram was having trouble selling the ED's now? Something like only 9% of the Ram 1500's sold were ED and they needed close to 15% or 20% to make it worthwhile.

In talking with our local dealer last week there were not even stocking them anymore because they were not selling.

In fairness they don't really stock any of the V-6 versions either as everyone wants the V-8 Hemi in the 1500's.

Does Ford get "credit" with a half ton diesel towards the government's MPG number I wonder to maybe help make it worthwhile?

Unless you just don't want a gasser on the ranch, small ED in a F150 is about two things - fuel mileage and high mileage. Might take a couple tries to get the second one, seems hard to do in the first go round.

It also sounds like the Ranger is coming back for 2019 and the Bronco for 2020!

I actually hope the new Expedition gets a diesel motor option. I just wish it was a little bigger displacement, like a 4.0L.

For us, it would be great to take a family road trip with the boat or sleds and get decent fuel mileage with enough torque to climb mountain passes at 80. :face-icon-small-sho
