So I just purchased a 2017 F-250 and took it in to get a sprayed in bed liner. Went to pick it up and was told to bring it back in a week and have the bed bolts re-torqued. Took it back and found out that Ford had changed the bed bolts and now a "E" socket is required to remove and replace the bolts. Ford doesn't even have the special sockets out yet. Called MAC tools and wouldn't ya know, they have them. It's an E24 Plus socket. If you contact MAC tools, the part number is VIMVSP8EP24. It's about $12

This is a standard E24
But what the heck is a PLUS ?

The "plus" is a variation of a torx pattern that has more of a rectangular shape to the drive lugs than the pointed ones. Seem to be a little less susceptible to twisting the bit on a tight fastener or slipping out of the bolt or screw head. My 2003 F-150 has them holding the seats in the cab and uses them for bed bolts too.

I love the truck!! It makes my 2014 Powerstroke feel like it had an anchor behind it. There is so much new technology in the truck that you have to spend some serious time in the owners manual and just play with stuff to figure it out. One thing I found the hard way was that when I hooked up my enclosed trailer, I had no interior lights. Figured it was like my other Fords and had to add a fuse. Not true. You have to go into the menu and add a trailer and then click on connect trailer. Boom, I had interior lights. I didn't think they could improve the truck that much, but it really is that much better. You'll love the truck and the power is amazing!!
