2015 ST upgrade to 2.5 convex LT

I just purchased the new convex 2.5 LT from TS and going to upgrade my current 2015 ST. Has anybody made this conversion yet? Should I go with new rails or rail extensions? What rail extensions have people been using?

Thanks for the info, your bike looks good. I am excited, I think the new track will be work well. Did you special order from Ice Age? couldn't find anything on there website. How much did the rails cost?

I did the extensions and got them powder coated black. Close enough of a match to justify saving hundreds of dollars. I don't have a ton of adjustment but the guys at ice age said I should be fine since there isn't much stretch in the tracks from the bikes. I guess we'll see.

Kell where did you get your extensions? Did you custom make them or buy them? Going from the 120 to 137 I am worried about the big gap in the hyfax.

Kurt,
I was thinking the same thing but others told me just to go with it (see link below for more info). I'm new to the track'd world so I took their word for it. Again, I guess we'll see how it works!

I used the WPS 44-1503 supplied from IceAge to extend from 121 to 137.

Is anyone changing gearing with the 2.5 track upgrade and especially if going 121 to 137 i assume most of you guys are doing gearing change?

I am actually keeping the same gearing. I felt I was actually geared too low last year with the ST. I run a KX 500, it has tons of torque, so I am not that worried, but we will see. I would rarely use 1st gear, too low, and not enough track speed, always start in 2nd or 3rd and it would pull it easily. I am running a 13 tooth sprocket on the bike with stock gears on the TS kit.

I thought I would just post a few pictures of the mounted rail extensions. I used the WPS 44-1503 rail extensions (which are extremely hard to find by the way). The extensions bolted on very easy without any trouble. Ideally, I would have liked to purchase longer rails, they look much cleaner than the extensions, but for the price, I couldn't justify it. I think the extensions will work just fine. I hope this helps if some of you are making the same conversion from a ST to LT.

One of the problems I am having though is my drive chain rubs on the new track, even with the notches. I guess I will have to make the notches even deeper.

i used the Yeti extensions when i went to the 129" track. Extensions came poweder coated black and work great.

I'm doing the same thing you guys did but I'm struggling with how to best remove my driver noidea::noidea: any clues to help me get the track out?

I found the easiest way for me was to loosen the track up, loosen the top three bolts that hold the right side panel on to the frame. Then loosen the 4 Allen bolts on the right side of the kit that hold the driveshaft in place. This will allow u to remove the track off the driveshaft quickly and easily. Good luck

My chain rubs the new convex as well. I was just going to leave it and hope for the best.
