2015 Pro RMK. Rumors.

2015?

We'll,,, if they come again with the good 'ol BNG(bold new graphics) for the new model year,,, I'm not buying anything!

Where've you been? Yup, emissions on snowmobiles. EPA has been a pain in the arse to the powersports industry for the last 5-10 years. New emissions standards go into effect in 2016 I believe, which supports a new motor design for '15 in order to meet more strict EPA requirements for '16....but we'll see.

I've been riding a 99 RMK 700 and a 98 RMK 600 for a long while and the only time I worried about emissions is when my sled's oil tank sprung a leak and drenched my trailer deck.

I'll actually be pissed if Poo improves anything on the Pro RMK 800 '14 model I bought. Not too long ago, I bought a new Yammi Grizzly ATV and wouldn't you know it, their new model has enough improvements for me to regret buying a new '13.

if they come out with a new 800 I won' touch a Polaris for at least 3 years. their track record on 800 motors blows.

if they come out with a DI 800 producing 165hp +, i will give it a go. Think I will get the extra warranty though lol

im hoping they beef the tunnel up by the foot wells. new plastic. bit of other refinement and a new motor. Ill ride the sh*t out of my 14 this year next year and buy a 2016 if there's a good track record in 2015.

I find it funny how something better somehow makes what you have worse...

I'm really hoping for a sub 400 lbs 2 stroke and sub 450 lbs 4 stroke in the 160-180 hp range.

doubt full. How much does the etec weight over the cfi? add that to the pro and then they will try to take some weight out of it to get it on par with the 14.

The 4 stroke 450 lbs is a pipe dream.

Those that have transplanted the Nytro engine into the PRO chassis are well below 450 #'s. Not so much a pipe dream anymore. Still not for me, but to each their own.

a propex you mean? they are not pro chassis, they are full custom tube frames with pro plastic... only thing they share are a arm location and plastic.

Not a pro-pex. Look up the nypro project in the member builds. It's a n/a nytro motor so only about 135 hp, but under 450. I'm thinking with a turbo set up it would need a diet, ie some ti or carbon fiber in a few places, but do-able.

Where does Polaris lie with EPA compliance? Are they going to be forced to go the opposite direction of what the customer wants and go with more heavy 4-strokes like Cat did?

LH,

Sincere question... (not a "front")

Can you point me in the direction of a sub 450 lb nitro powered Pro?

Also, there is a huge rotational and CG difference in a Nytro engine compared to the 800 CFi Small-Block engine... I really doubt that the nimbleness of the Pro would be realized with a Nytro motor??

I'm interested in seeing what comes out for next year.:typing:

The 2014 800 DC-CFi-2 engines from the RMK's ARE compliant with 2015 EPA regulations.

As I bought the displaced 2S engine and some of the parts, I watched the Nypro build thread, his claim was that the Nytro engines were only 30 pounds heavier than the 600 he removed. The sled build is highlighted in SledHeads either this month or last. Other than that I have no direct knowledge.

I find the info that the nytro engine guy gave you... with counter balance shaft, an additional cylinder, piston, rod, camshaft, valve train, timing gear, oil pump, oil tanks, coils, more coolant, manifolds etc... to be only 15 lbs more than the 800 cfi ... kind of hard to believe.... but hey, anything is posible.

The weight diff from the 600 cfi to the 800 are within a few lbs of each other.

Again not my info. Published on the forum for all to see, scrutinize, etc.

Just rumors everyone. Just rumors.

The pro-ride chassis is only 5 model years old this season in the Rush and 4 years old in the RMK. They aren't coming out with a new chassis just because of a anniversary. Ski-doo is running a 7 model year old chassis with new body work. Cat is still working out the bugs and Yamaha has nothing but a Cat chassis. Polaris doesn't need a new chassis.

The big thing for '15 will likely be a 4-stroke.

You could be correct, but they did in 2005 on their 50th. Soon after they came out with the Pro chassis, Polaris sled sales went up over 600% I am sure they would like that to continue. The rumor I received was from a line worker in Roseau, and that they will start training their workers for an all new chassis. And in his/her words " it's going to be boss" The other rumor was the 600 will only be a few ponies less than the 800. This could all be BS! We'll know sometime in January.
Personally? I wish them good luck. But please, Polaris? Come up with a better rear bumper!!! Have fun while you can.

There is not a single possibility that a Nytro engine only weights 15 pounds more than a 600CFI. Or an 800CFI. The pro motor, assembled, weighs less than 100 pounds, the nytro motor assembled with intake on is about 130+ pounds if I remember correctly, it's been a while since I worked on one of those heavy piles of crap.
