2015 Denver Expo Discussion

A couple of points that I wanted to throw out there for some feedback:

  1. We're looking at booking the same hotel. Does anyone have any feedback?
  2. Looking for suggestions for the workshops
  3. Any specific vendors that you want us to invite?

It's over a 100 degrees here today, I'm so happy to see this discussion come up!!!!

I'm not sure what hotel was booked last year but we stayed at the embassy suites and didn't have any complaints. I always enjoy their managers reception and made to order omelets in the morning. It was close to the expo and very easy to navigate to the pre-show party from.

I attended Erik Woogs sled set up work shop along with Z Broz suspension seminar. Both were very well done and I'd certainly attend both again. Very informative and helpful. As far as new clinics, track selection, light weight parts, and what fuel to run always seems to be topics of discussion on here. With the popularity of snow bikes I think this too would be a really good thing to implament.

As far as vendors I felt there was a really good variety. Personally I'd like to see retailers like sled solutions and blownmotor there. I'd also really like if Fox racing shocks came to the show! Two areas I think the show needs to really expand on this year are snow bikes and Yamaha.

I hope this is helpful,

Just a idea.

Would it make sense to place the Colorado snowmobile association booth in very close proximity to where people enter the show? It'd be easier for them to rally new members or donations if they're the first booths people see.

I think one of the biggest disappointments in the past was the lack of involvement from some of the vendors that make other shows. RSI, Sled Solutions, SLP, Power Addiction are just a few that come to mind. They might have made it some years but more of these types of vendors would be great. I'd like to see more trailer companies. It's one of those things you want to see in person. The show has gotten better over the last few years. Good work in your efforts Steven. See you at the CSA meeting.

The Utah show is pretty awesome. I know Utah is closer for a lot of the Idaho companies. SLP would be really nice to see in Denver, maybe they can have a class on basics of troubleshooting a clutch, or clutch maintenance. I think a lot of guys getting into the sport would appreciate a basic sled maintenance, even the vets could take some tips. I think having a 2-Day event works better for those companies traveling a long ways. They basically have 1 day of travel each direction, so a 3 day show turns into a 5-day week minimum. Two days would maybe attract more vendors for it is one less day of lodging, one less day of meals, etc, etc. Do a Friday Saturday show. That allows vendors to travel Thursday, be here Friday Saturday and get out of town late Saturday or use Sunday to travel and then have the entire work week.

We evaluate the days of the show each year, and, in the end, it's GS Media's call on which days. For this year, we are contracted for Saturday and Sunday. We send out vendor surveys each year, and ask for feedback. A lot of them, actually, seem to want to go to a one-day show.

I like the idea of clutch maintenance. Do you know anyone at SLP that I could ask?

I can probably find you a contact.
Saturday Sunday works, but I think 3 days is too much. I've worked for a vendor in Denver and salt lake. Between setup, the show and tear down, 3 days is way too much.

I actually liked Utah's Friday afternoon and Saturday. Obviously they do that because they want Sunday open for religious activities. That format seems to keep both day very busy. Here in Denver it seems that by 1:00pm Sunday, everyone is already in tear down mode. The bulk of the crowd comes Saturday. I get that you have others contributing to the decision though.

Looks like the Broncos will be playing the Raiders in Oakland on that Sunday. People will still want to watch the game but that's better than having a home game.
