2014 timbersled sx on ktm 250 sx what sprocket size

Just wondering what sproket to run on bike with 2014 timbersled sx kit with KTM 250sx 2 stroke. 12 or 13 tooth. Also wondering how tight to run chain since sx has movement in skid. Thanks for any help.

I run the 12 tooth on mine and run the chain as tight as I can with the bike on a stand (no weight on track). The chain will be a tight fit to get hooked up, I even have to lift the back of the skid up a bit to connect it.

Sounds good and thanks for help. Did you have any problem with bolt on chain adjuster hitting sub frame seems to stick up a lot and in line with subframe when suspension compresses.

Agreed that 12t is way to low. I run 13-17 17-19 on 300, and will be trying to run taller this year.

I had an issue with this on my KX500. I had to find a smaller bolt! I ended up cutting a few threads out of a 5/8 - 16 x 1 1/4 I believe.

I also moved the mounting place of the bolt by drilling two holes about a 1/2in towards the rear of where its set from the factory. Just two allens holding that bolt there on my kit.

Mines is a 12-16 on bike drive and 17-17 in chain case. How will that work with my 250 2stroke.

Well found out my timbersled sx 12-16 17-17 sprockets on my ktm 250sx works out to a 35mph top speed so it is to low. So guess I will try a 13 or 14 on bike. Would like 50mph top end but do not want to lose to much bottom end which is good now.

Ok so tried running 13-16 and chain was to tight. Only thing I find that works is 14-16 with half link. Is it safe to run half link. 14-17 16-16 should be great gearing and have enough chain slack for sx movement (not to tight) and chain is not hitting track. Timbersled really needs to improve this chain tension set up really sad for what a guys pays for kit. Gearing is very important

I have ran half links without problems. Both in case and drive chain. 2 stokes are easier on chains, both in the dirt and snow. Another thing to think about is going away from oring chain to free things up. They move way easier and don't rob as much power. I like the 14/17 idea. Tillbuilt has a 17T keyed sprocket for sale if you don't have one. Or take a 17 out of the case and swap it with the 16 on the jackshaft. Then you could go 16/17 if you want to be a little lower geared or 17/16 for more topspeed. Let us know how it works out.

Sorry I posted wrong ratio I am going to try 14-16 17-17. But thanks for comment on half link and might give it a try and watch the half link for wear and replace half link halfway through season. Ya if I was buying chain again would not have gone o-ring.

Off topic, But did you remove your airbox completely or just cut clearance for sx linkage?

I cut the airbag out and running a pod and seems to be working well so far. Really enjoying this sx kit handles jumps and hardpack snow well.

Having troubles getting SX120 kit to fit ktm300 XC

Having a heckuva time installing my sx kit on ktm 300xc bike, have tried 13/16 and 13/17 and chain still too sloppy. half link or different chain needed? Do you know if the TSS shocks are identical OR are they bike-specific? I ask because we are running TSS but it was installed on a Yamaha last year, wondering if the TSS being "off" so far (2.5" shorter than what we needed to make it fit this ktm) is what is throwing our chain/sprocket setup off?? Any help is appreciated, thanks.

It is my understanding the rod that is used to adjust the shock varies set up to set up.

Highflernick how did you get 13-16 combination to work with chain it must be crazy tight or loose.

He is running a newer version SX if using TSS. Go 14T! The 250/300 has always taken weird chain lengths when used with mtn horse. That's why they say to use the 12T CS, which we all know is ridiculously low with high rolling resistance and chain wear characteristics.
