2014 Ski Doo Polaris Arctic Cat Yamaha Snowmobile Predictions and Launch Dates

2014 Mountain Snowmobile Predictions and Launch Dates

The 2014 model year snowmobile lineup will bring us 2 all new mountain sleds and a big power boost for another mountain favorite. Announcements on the new models by Polaris, Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat and Yamaha always brings a few surprises. Remember, Sled Rumors predictions were 90% correct for the 2013 mountain sleds. Please comment with your arguments, criticism and crystal ball prophesies for everyone to enjoy!

Launch dates for 2014 snowmobiles:

Yamaha February 20, 2013
Ski-Doo February 24, 2013
Arctic Cat February 26, 2013
Polaris March 4, 2013
Quick 2013 Mountain Sled Review

For 2013, Polaris dropped a bunch of weight on the Pro RMK, broke some drive shafts and introduced the QuickDrive. Ski-Doo focused on chassis improvements on the Summit featuring more room on the running boards, the laterally flexing suspension and the flexible track. Arctic Cat fixed a host of issues on their new chassis notably giving us the best mountain track on a stock sled and an M8 that steers and boondocks with stability and power. Now what?

2014 Polaris Snowmobiles

2014 Polaris Pro RMK’s will come with machined billet pulleys on the QuickDrive instead of cast for improved belt life under abusive situations. There are options for more power, but will Polaris make a move or rely on aftermarket? Boondockers Turbo has proven a reliable companion to the ProRMK and successful big bore applications satisfy the power craving in deep powder. Watch for the 2014 Polaris Pro RMK 800 to also have a power boosted option for 2014.

2014 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles

2014 Ski-Doo Summit X 800 will lose 10 – 15 pounds. The XM is the best Summit made, but could use a diet. So could I. I will cut back on the fries for my 2014 beefcake body.

The big surprise this year (unless you’re reading Sled Rumors) will be the return of a Ski-Doo Summit 1000. This won’t be your grandma’s 2007 Ski-Doo Summit X RT 1000 SDI. The 2014 Ski-Doo Summit X 1000 XM will only be 10 pounds more than the 2013 800 Summit and come in at 190 horsepower.

2014 Arctic Cat Snowmobiles

2014 Arctic Cat M800 Sno Pro will look the same from the outside, but Arctic Cat will introduce a new direct injection 650 cc mountain M SnoPro coming in at 140 horsepower and the Suzuki manufactured throttle bodied 800 will be replaced with a new direct injection 850 at 170 horsepower for the best Arctic Cat M to hit the slopes.

2014 Yamaha Snowmobiles

2014 Yamaha mountain sleds will be basically the same. The flat-lander sleds will get all the attention for model year 2014, but the 2015 Yamaha mountain snowmobiles will make a comeback. Watch for a 4-stroke, 200HP Mountain Max that weighs 500 pounds or less but be patient for another year.

Mountain Snowmobile Prediction Summary

Expect two all new mountain sleds, the 2014 Arctic Cat M650 153 and the 2014 Ski-Doo Summit 1000 X ETEC. In addition, watch for a “Jagged X like” edition Pro RMK 800 with some power perks. Arctic Cat exited the 600 Mountain sled class when they introduced the M1100 without a turbo and Ski-Doo bailed on the 1000 SDI when the XP chassis was introduced. These big comebacks and some much improved 2014 mountain snowmobiles will make the 2013-2014 snowmobile season the most interested and exciting deep powder has ever seen!

Umm..
Just went to the website to sign up and it says be the 1st to know about the 2013 models. not feeling to "cutting edge" ha ha ..
just giving a hard time.

If doo comes out with a actual 190hp N/A summit, let the HP wars begin. I don't see Polaris competing with them on HP without a direct injection setup.

I think the hp wars is a joke these days. As of today IMO there are few riders that can benifit from more hp from any brand. The sleds take most to places they could not think of going just a few yrs ago. And to much speed can be tougher to control in back woods apps. To me it's more of what the rider can now do than the extra hp we think we need, that being said sure a few folks can use more but they are riding turbos and big bore already, what the rest need to realize is the hp won't make you ride like them, so just enjoy!

I agree with you to an extent. I am by no means a superb rider. But, when a sweet spot to ride is blocked by a short climb covered with 3 ft of fresh, and the only thing stopping your from getting there is a stock sled with lack of HP, it sucks. Also, I don't care what anyone says, big horsepower makes powder play a LOT more fun!! IMO.

I agree! Just because you have an abundance of power, doesn't mean you need to use it all the time. I like to have it on tap for when I need it! I would love for Polaris to stick a lightweight 4 stroke turbo into the pro chassis and be sub 500lbs and 200hp stock that can easily handle 300hp. We need something to compete with the m1100T, but with the refined pro chassis and clutching.

strap a sofa, or some suitcase weights, or your lawnmower to the front end of your Pro. there you have it. you are now competing with the 1100

Not sure if you have actually ridden an 1100 turbo, but they actually ride and handle very nimble. I spent some time on one and was very impressed. Very controllable at low and high speed powder turns. Ride'm before you judge'm

Yes for sure...KJ can really ride & jump a sofa well...funny how all that power makes a lawnmower dance..

It's a joke. Un-twist panties

I've actually ridden one. A friend of mine that I go to the mountains with often has had one since last year. It's fun, but now my first choice.

I was talking to a buddy of mine and today while riding he came across a demo crew of the 2014 polaris sleds. All he told me was there was not real big changes other then a new hunting sled that they came out with. He might just be pulling my tail on this one but if its true, it would be good to see a workhorse sled from polaris, All we can do is wait and see
