2014 Rk-Tek 858

Just curious as to why the change from turbo to BB?

I have owned two turbo kits in AK on my pros and personally couldn't get them to ever run consistent and reliably, at least to my standard. I love to tinker in the garage, but not on the mountain. Nothing is more frustrating than ruining a bluebird day with epic deep snow cause your sled won't run right. I was originally apprehensive to run a BB due to the cost vs hp, but I figured what the heck. I gave a BB a shot since I haven't tried one and really I just wanted more bottom end and mid range. And I am not adding additional equipment that could go wrong on the mountain. I got tired of other issues a turbo causes on the sleds. I want stock like reliability and consistency. I ordered mine through SPS with their bd map so we will see how it runs. I am sure I will have to do some tweaking from there. I personally won't have a tuner that I can't adjust myself. Felt very helpless last year waiting for a new fuel map on my bullydog...

I want to run an 858 back to back with my long rod.
Just to know how they stack up.
And again after 500 miles.

That said.
I've ran two skidoo motors with rk tek drop in kits/heads.
That was enough for me.

Lets hook up this year and see how they stack up. I am not biased at all. Just testing the waters on the options available.

Opening day up placer? :)

I'm hoping to ride south a little more this year.
Got a couple changes in the mix.

Excited for snow.

I feel like Kelsey addresses the big fuel controller question really well. I was on the fence until I read this, and I'm all for the concept of running the Boondocker controller now. I just installed the RKT drop in kit, and I was thinking of doing the PCV because I love the idea of plug-and-play, but this definitely changed my mind..it's worth taking a gander.

PCV are not plug and play. they are plug and tune similar to the boondocker

What oil are you guys running in these rk tek kits been doing a lot of research on the kit and he wants a non sythetic oil seems kinda hard to find where I'm at these days

What I meant is that it seems like many guys just want a simple solution, they want a controller, they want a map that runs their sled decently, and they don't want to put the time in to actually tune it and refine the map. I was simply advocating a controller like Boondocker's, where you can tune literally wherever you are without a computer, opposed to a generalized ECM reflash that would perform differently machine to machine.

I run Amsoil Interceptor. Don't buy into the whole non-synthetic oil thing.

Gotcha:nod:
