2014 KTM SXF Factory Edition

Today was my first ride on my 2014 KTM SXF 450 and it worked pretty well, very happy with how it performs.

The 1 issue I had a few times today was when riding in 1-2' of fresh in the trees and after a good pull if I backed off the throttle it would stall and wouldn't start back up right away. It would start right up if I pulled the choke knob (fuel enrichner) out but if I didn't pull it out it wouldn't fire. If I let it sit for 2 minutes or so it would start right up though without using the choke??.. I have a Thermo-Bob 3 T-stat and engine shroud on. Temps outside were around -10 Celcius.

Anyone ever had this happen?

Not sure if this is your issue but check your air box to see if it's packed with snow. That happened to me last year, switched to a pod set up this year to avoid it. The snow sneaks in to the kxf air boxes on deep days and chokes off the air.

mine performed very well the first time. did the avid thermostat kit and every other possible mod. wore out the sliders in one 6hr ride in fernie, bc a week ago. wtf.... im so chocked... just got to deadwood south dakota today and noticed this excessive wear. not sure if i can even ride it a second time.... pretty dissapointed............ wtf

Is your front shock set super stiff and/or do you have a big boy spring in there?
It looks like a point load because all the wear is in line with the shock rod.

my 2014 does the same, does it in the summer too. i have turned the idle up to hope solve this issue. havent ridden it in the snow yet.

Rode Revy today, temps were around -4 to -5 celcius and pretty deep. Was awesome. Bike did it a couple times again after a good pull in powder but started fine when I pulled the choke. The nice thing is once started or if I don't let it idle down enough it doesn't miss a beat and it pulls very very well so if this is the only minor inconvenience I have to deal with then I'll be happy because this bike RIPS!!! :whoo:

Sounds like it is running out of fuel. Could it be boiling the fuel in a line somewhere causing a vapor lock after it gets hot on a pull? Just a thought.

I've got two 2013 450SXF's that we've bee running for a couple years. This may sound stupid but both of mine have a hard time starting while they are in gear, put it in neutral and it start up in a second.

That's not the issue with mine. Whenever it doesn't start I put it in neutral and there isn't any difference. Mine starts the same whether in gear or neutral, when it is starting good it starts as soon as I touch the button whether in gear or not.
