2014 GMC Sierra

Put my hands on a 2014 Sierra today. Drove it for about 12 miles.

It is QUIET!! You guys that like they exhaust note might not like it. No wind noise, road noise, not a lot of exhaust note. But it is super pleasant inside. Power is great. It is not snappy power. Won't lay you back in the seat but when you look down and see how fast you're going, you'll be like "damn!" It is super linear. It pull and pulls. Great usable power band. Transmission does good. It doesn't search for a gear. I put it in tow haul mode, 4 high a couple times. Typical GM for 4x4. Completely seamless which should be expected for any truck now. Tow/haul mode worked great. Transmission grade braking kicked in when going downhill and I got on the brakes a little harder. It took downshifts similar to the heavy duty Allison. Impressed. Speaking of braking the brakes felt super firm, peddle feel was good. Never got on the brakes too hard for it was a brand new (3 miles) truck.

Rear seat is far more comfortable. Truck I was in was an SLT with front bench seat. Leather, heater seats. No a seats. Heated stealing wheel. Think this one had a 3.05 rear end.

I am still amazed at how quiet the truck was.

Any idea on the big diesel pickup for 14?

2014 HD trucks (diesel) will be just like the 2013 trucks. No changes except some special early colors (typical) and some minor packaging changes.

I heard a rumor that the gas HD motor will be the 6.2l

Unsure if that is the new 6.2 or the old

GM like most manufactures are tight lipped about upcoming product. They want to sell current product not stuff that isn't here yet.

There are spy shots of the HD out there. I'm sure you can expect interior upgrades, larger cab, softer surfaces, more sound deadening.

AKSnowRider - Hope you heal up from your ordeal.

I had heard a rumor the other day that the new GM/GMC trucks were going to be made in Mexico now instead of the US. Any truth to this?

They are made in the USA, Canada and Mexico.

Vin starts with 1 if the us. 2 for Canada and 3 for Mexico.

AFM or DOD, whatever you want to call it is a joke and is causing valve train issues. I tuned it out of my 2008 5.3 pretty soon after I bought it and I'm glad I did, the mileage was identical afterwards. Trucks were never meant to run on four cylinders. If i bought a 2014 I would get a tune and eliminate cylinder deactivation and about 75% of torque management.

The 2014's look great. Can't wait to see the HD Denalis.

That is a real problem. My buddies 09 dropped a rocker or valve or something because of that. I had never heard of it until it happened to his truck and then I googled it and there are lots of problems with the GM system.

GMC is advertising a great lease. $399 a month (plus tax and your dealer handling) on a 4x4 SLT (leather and heated seats) crew cab Sierra. 5.3l with MSRP of over $44k
Probably talking $420 for 36 months with all fees and taxes. $3,000 down. Not bad at all.

That's a solid lease.

The new radio allows you to almost put shortcuts in place of radio favorites. The shortcut can be to a contact in your phone, say your home or wife. A playlist, artist, song or genre on your phone/iPod/mp3.
You can use one of the USB ports to leave a 64 gig memory stick in it,
Filled with music.

Up to 60 "favorite" stored in your radio.

You can also get a max trailering package with the 5.3l

Drove from Fort Collins to Denver tech center in a new truck yesterday. For 21.8 mpg combined. Lots of stop and go traffic, seriously 5-30 mph stop and go. 40-85 mph traffic highway speed. Certainly not a great commute. Kinda sucked heading back in that much traffic. Super quiet truck. Love driving it. By far the best driving truck I've ever been in.

Drive by the GM store en route to work and gotta say....I want one. The look really good, and would only get better with men's size tires on them. Fortunately lack of money and renovations are holding me back from making any silly decisions like that this year lol

Will the Denali have an AWD selection option? My '12 F150 Lariat has it plus the standard 4WD Hi and 4WD Lo and I use the Auto mode quite a bit when out in the woods to keep the tires from slipping too much.

Auto mode and AWD are not the same.

Auto mode which GM has had for a long time is 2X4 until the rear wheels lose traction then it automatically engages 4x4 mode. It is an awesome feature but you don't want it turning off and on. Works good to let you know the road is slick but after that either lock 4x4 in or slow down and keep it in 4x2. Continuous off and on will wear out the solenoid.

GMC decided to abandon the AWD exclusive because Of the auto transfer case, the ability to add low range, advances in traction control and stability control as well as the automatic locking differential. The AWD became a loss point in the driveline with fuel consumption. It was always In a 60/40 percent rear to front power split. They advertise that 100% of the power can be moved to the front or rear wheels but it was kind of tricky math to get there.

It is capable of turning the power off to the front or rear but it never technically puts all the power 100% to front or rear.

If 60% of the power is to the rear wheels and the truck pulls all the power going to the front wheels, technically 100 % is going to the rear wheels because no power is going to the front but that's still only 60% of all available power. Make sense? Either way major advancements in technology allowed them to abandon the AWD.

I can't wait to get a chance to see that new interior in person. When I was looking at diesels I almost bought a ford because their interior is so much better then gm. Now with the new improvements I think gm is right up there with ford and dodge who have great interiors. Can't wait to see the HD trucks next year.
