GMC Really stepped up their game. Towing will be a max of 12,000 lbs, Over 2,000 lbs of in bed weight. 1/2 ton is truly a 1 ton now. :face-icon-small-win

awesome- Also the 2014 is direct Injected- a extra 30 HO

355 HP 5.3L Vortech, the 2013 is only 325, the older ones were 315 like I had a 2009. I'm a GM guy but GM's technology is 1.5 years behind Ford. where is the 500 HP 7.0 liter that GM was holding out as a carrot for us to drool over?
anyone know the HP for the 6.2L Direct Injection. My 6.2L in my 2012 Camaro is 400HP but I don't think it has Direct injection

GM has ALL new engines for 2014 in the gas segment. The 4.8l was dropped completely.

New for 2014:
-4.3l V6 285 horsepower, 305 ft-lbs of torque
-5.3l V8 355 horsepower, 383 ft lbs of torque ( 380 horsepower, 416 ft-lbs of torque on E85) 16/23 and 16/22 fuel economy number for 4x2 and 4x4.
-6.2l V8 with direct injection (same motor as the 2014 Corvette). Numers have not been released yet, the Corvette makes 455 Horsepower and 460 ft-lbs of torque. The truck won't get that power but I guess it will be around 430 horsepower and torque.

Although all of these motors are the same discplacement as the old motors they are 99.99% different. I hear only 3 bolts carry over from the old motor to the new ones. All offer direct injection, cylinder deactivation, variable timing.

Crew cab grew by 2" in the rear seat. All have 6-speed autos. extended cab will now be called double cab and have regular opening doors on it. 34 gallon fuel tanks, 6'6" bed is now an option for the crew cab.

You will be able to choose exterior color obviously, pair it up with 12 interior color combinations between cloth and leather (7 leather choices, 1 vinyl and 4 cloth), you will also be able to pick between 5 accent colors.

In bed under rail lighting:

Thanks for the photos & info.

Some new ideas & some copied ideas.
Nothing wrong with copying good ideas!

Chev gonna be the same changes?

Looks like some good refinements over the previous generation. I particularly like the under-rail lights and the new dash. I've never been a fan of GM interiors, this looks much improved.

danmit, danmit, danmit- I just bought a new one in November

only 5000 miles, and now it's not worth squat on resale due to all of the new improvements. I really like the added juice. the extra tie downs in the bed. I counted 8 total. the led lights under the rails, perfect for my Diablo Tonneau cover. I tried to build one last night, you cannot get the 6.2L in a half ton crew

I lost my 11 Denali in march....I plan on replacing it with a 14..Dont know if any other brand would have protected me as good as the denali did.......

Holy crap, that Denali is hammered.
Why isn't the Hummer worse off than that?

As of right now you can't because they haven't released the new 6.2 yet. I've been hearing it'll be released in the fall. I can't wait to see these new pickups in person, I just have to restrain myself from test driving one or I'll probably end up owning one. Oh well my 04 gmc is getting tired:face-icon-small-hap

Chevy is going to see similar changes. Same chassis and motors. Different trim levels. I "hear" that GM is looking to differentiate GMC and Chevy more.

I "hear" GMC will lose their work trucks and Chevy will be the only work truck provider, GMC will take over the high end. Which means Chevy might lose their LTZ. Still get leather just not loaded up. Again, nothing confirmed these are just rumors at this point.

Right now you can only get a half ton with the 5.3l

I know you can't get the 6.2l yet, and I do not think you can get the 4.3l v6 either.

You also can only get a crew cab (regular or long box). In the fall you will be able to get the extended cab and after that the regular cabs.

Something else to note is the cabin quietness should be greatly improved.

They stole some technology from Buick on this by using triple door seals and they also inset the doors. This is mostly on the roof. The roof comes over the doors. The old style the door butted against the roofs which creates a whistle point, and a point for leaks. The roof now overhangs the door with the inset.

5 USB ports will be standard

Still trying to sort it out but it looks like a CD player will not be on most of these trucks. It maybe on a few select optioned trucks or the bare end trucks. GMC wants you linked to the truck.

110 Volt outlet standard on SLT and up trucks. Option on regular Sierra and SLE

Split bench is standard seat on all trims, including leather/SLT. Buckets are an option for SLE and SLT.

Front and REAR discs are standard.

AFM or DOD, whatever you want to call it is a joke and is causing valve train issues. I tuned it out of my 2008 5.3 pretty soon after I bought it and I'm glad I did, the mileage was identical afterwards. Trucks were never meant to run on four cylinders. If i bought a 2014 I would get a tune and eliminate cylinder deactivation and about 75% of torque management.

The 2014's look great. Can't wait to see the HD Denalis.

Why is it a joke? It does a good job saving fuel. It rotates cylinders so you don't get uneven wear, spark plugs still fire to avoid uneven plug wear.

My chevy dealer guy got to test drive a new 14 1500 with the new diesel in it and at 70 mph it was getting 30mpg

I don't think it's gonna happen. Even though GM owns 50% of VM Motori which is who makes the motor for dodge in their half ton diesel, GM has not showed anything that they will bring a diesel to the 1500. VIN builds have been released and the vins don't show any diesel offering at this point.

Are you sure he didn't drive a Colorado/canyon which is out in Europe and already has a diesel motor in it? It is highly rumored that both of those will get a diesel.

OUCH AK....holy crap does that look like a nasty hit. I agree tho, the cabin is preserved very well for such an impact.

I really like what they've done with the new GM's/Chevs inside, outside and mechanically.
